Notes: Examines wool/polyester blended fabrics with a view to finding the optimal blend in relation to suitable utility, surface and handling properties. Concludes that a simple general mixing rule is possible for use in producing the required optimum blends.

Notes: The main aim of this contribution is characterization of fabric porosity by the light transmission and comparison of this characteristic with air permeability and idealized geometrical structure of selected weaves. For characterization of air permeability the classical apparatus has been used. The transmission of light through fabrics has been measured on the system LUCIA for image analysis. The porosity of textiles has been evaluated from corresponding construction parameters and idealized models of fabric geometry. The dependencies between the above mentioned characteristics were formalized by using regression analysis.

Notes: It is well-known that clean room textiles are acting as a barrier protecting humans against the surrounding atmosphere or vice versa. These textiles are produced in the limited range of porosity and the air permeability. The porosity calculated from fabric geometry and the air permeability of two typical clean room textiles of Czech production are measured. The variation of air permeability is described by the analysis based on the coefficient of variation and spatial autocorrelation. The air permeability of composite textiles of multiple layers is predicted from a simple model. This model is based on the idea of a combination of air pressure drop in individual layers. The predicted air permeability is compared with experimental measurements.

Notes: Visual and subjective methods for evaluation of surface appearance irregularity of chemically bonded nonwovens are compared. The image analysis system LUCIA is used for estimation of characteristics describing appearance. The analysis of subjective and objective estimates of surface appearance irregularity is realized by the coefficient of variation and by the ANOVA type model.

Notes: Abstract Nonlinear regression program DHMINOPT has been used for an analysis of a set of values expressing the dependence of mixed dissociation constant on ionic strength according to the extended Debye-Hueckel law. Efficiency of program has been examined on simulated data loaded with generated random errors. Goodness-of-fit brings various regression diagnostics enabling to prove a reliability of a regression process and parameter estimates. For five selected sulphonephtalein indicators, i.e. Bromocresol Green, Bromophenol Red, Bromocresol Purple, Bromothymol Blue and Phenol Red, the thermodynamic dissociation constant has been determined at 25°C together with the ion-size parameter and the salting-out coefficient.

Notes: Abstract Nonlinear regression program DCMINOPT is introduced for numerical analysis of a set of {A, pH} data expressing a dependence of absorbance of a mixture of variously protonated light-absorbing species L, LH,..., LHR on pH. Efficiency of the program has been examined on simulated A-pH data corrupted with artificial (generated) errors namely for a case of closely overlapping protonation equilibria. An accuracy and precision of parameters estimates have been examined and compared with those determined by another three standard algorithms DCFIT, DCMINUIT and PSEQUAD. Goodness-of-fit test brings various regression diagnostics, 3D-plots and statistical measures enabling to test and prove a reliability of a regression process and accuracy and precision of parameter estimates.

Notes: Relationship between structural parameters of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers, their mechanical properties, and nonisothermal sorption of disperse dyes are investigated. Influence of diethylene glycol (DEG) addition and small changes in draw ratio are studied. Mechanical properties are characterized by stress-strain curves at constant deformation rate. The stress-strain relationships are described by means of derivative analysis. For treatment of nonisothermal experiments a simple kinetic model is suggested enabling to determine activation parameters of sorption. Further, the influence of a blank dye bath on the structure and properties of PET fibers is studied.
