Notes:
We demonstrate that the fidelity of a hologram is often impaired by multiple beam interference during the recording process. We describe a simple and widely adaptable procedure for eliminating such impairment, and we give a quantitative measure of the gain in fidelity that may ensue in the case of object waves recorded on silver halide emulsion at f/6.3.
