    Description / Table of Contents: N-Heterocyclic Compounds Prepared from cis-Dibenzoylstilbene and DiaminesThe bridge-headed N-heterocyclic compounds 2 - 6 are formed by the reaction of cis-dibenzoylstilbene (1a) with aromatic amines. The reaction of 1a with phenylhydrazine is repeated and the structures of the reaction products are elucidated.
    Notes: Aus cis-Dibenzoylstilben (1a) und aromatischen Diaminen entstehen die Heterocyclen 2 - 6 mit Brückenkopf-Stickstoff. Der Reaktionsverlauf wird diskutiert. Die Umsetzungen von 1a mit Phenylhydrazin werden wiederholt und die Strukturen der Reaktionsprodukte geklärt.

The crystalline cyclobutenylium cation 5 is synthesized by the reaction of 3 with hydrochloric acid and tin tetrachloride.
    Notes: 2.4.4-Trichlor-3-hydroxy-1.3-di-p-anisyl-cyclobuten-(1) (3) entsteht aus Perchlorcyclobutenon und Anisol unter Friedel-Crafts-Bedingungen. 3 liefert mit Chlorwasserstoff und Zinn(IV)-chlorid das kristalline Cyclobutenyliumkation 5.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis of 4-Methyl-3-methylene-4-penten-2-one (Acetylisoprene) and its Reaction with DienophilesBase-catalyzed reaction of mesityl oxide (1) with formaldehyde gives 3-hydroxymethyl-2-methyl-] -penten-one (2). Dehydration of 2 affords 4-methyl-3-methylene-4-penten-2-one (3). Both 3 and 2 react with dienophiles to form the Diels-Alder adducts 6-12.
    Notes: Mesityloxid (1) reagiert unter Basenkatalyse mit Formaldehyd zu 3-Hydroxymethyl-2-methyl-I-penten-4-on (2). Die Dehydratisierung von 2 führt zu 4-Methyl-3-methylen-4-penten-2-on (3). Sowohl 3 als auch 2, reagieren mit Dienophilen zu den Diels-Alder-Addukten 6-12.

    Notes: Im letzten Jahrzehnt wurde die Chemie der Insektizide durch neue Cyclopropancarbonsäureester spezifischer Struktur erweitert, die in ihrer Wirkung die bis dahin bekannten Insektizide aus anderen Stoffklassen und auch die natürlichen Vorbilder aus der Gruppe der Pyrethrum-Inhaltsstoffe bei weitem übertreffen. Diese Entdeckung hat eine Fülle vielfältiger synthetischer Arbeiten ausgelöst. Um selektive Synthesemethoden für komplizierte Kleinringe zu entwickeln, wurde ein umfangreiches Repertoire des synthetisch arbeitenden Chemikers aktiviert: So nutzt eine großtechnisch ausgeübte Synthese dieser Verbindungen sigmatrope Umlagerung, radikalische Addition und nucleophilen Ringschluß mit Carbanionen. Besondere Aktualität gewinnen diese neuen industriellen Synthesen durch die Anwendung stereospezifischer und enantioselektiver Methoden.

    Notes: In the course of the last decade the chemistry of insecticides was expanded with the discovery of new cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters of specific structure, far superior in action to the hitherto known insecticides of other substance classes or the natural prototypes from the group of pyrethrum constituents. The discovery quickly precipitated a host of wide-ranging studies on the synthesis of these compounds. The development of selective methods of synthesizing complicated small rings called for a comprehensive repertoire: thus, synthesis of the compounds on an industrial scale makes use of sigmatropic rearrangement, radical addition, and nucleophilic ring closure with carbanions. These new industrial syntheses have acquired particular topicality because of their use of stereospecific and enantioselective methods.
