Abstract Electrolytic scouring required prior to the electrodeposition of non-polymerizable phenols onto an iron oxide layer at low potentials can be accelerated by the addition of polyamines as iron complexing agents. The scouring ability of NH2(CH2)nNH2 diamines increases asn increases. Monoamines display a general tendency to delay electropolymerization.
