Notes:
Abstract It is shown that a continuous method of blood sampling and of continuous determination of the sugar therein is advantageous for diagnostic purposes in comparison with the usually discontinuous methods of taking blood at different times. Only such a method makes possible an observation of the rhythmic waves of endocrinological regulations and a sensitive diagnosis. This is shown by the following group of dynamic tests: 1.54 g/kg of glucose, orally; 0.33 g/kg of glucose, intravenously; 1.43 g/kg of glucose, orally (previously two times 10 mg of prednisolone are given orally); 1.0 g of tolbutamide, intravenously. The method described is useful also for the amylum-tolerance test of the exocrine pancreas in comparison with an oral glucose-tolerance test.
