Rønnow We present a systematic study of the phase diagram of LiHo x Y 1 − x F 4 ( 0.25 ≤ x ≤ 1 ) Ising ferromagnets obtained from neutron scattering measurements and mean-field calculations. We show that while the thermal phase transition decreases linearly with dilution, as predicted by mean-field theory, the critical… [Phys. Rev. B 94, 174443] Published Mon Nov 28, 2016

Notes: [Auszug] Bose–Einstein condensation denotes the formation of a collective quantum ground state of identical particles with integer spin or intrinsic angular momentum. In magnetic insulators, the magnetic properties are due to the unpaired shell electrons that have half-integer spin. However, in ...

Notes: Abstract Yield curves of the reactions16O (γ, x)11C,16O (γ, x)13N and12C(γ, t) have been measured relative to12C(γ, n)11C with bremsstrahlung. The cross section σ[16O(γ, x)11C] has a shape similar to σ[16O(γ, t)] and shows a broad maximum near 38 MeV. Differences between σ[16O(γ, x)13 N] and σ[16O(γ, t)] point to a reaction mechanism via quadrupole absorption in16O. The yield of12C(γ, t) exceeds the16O(γ,t) yield by a factor of two.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary There has been reported on the appearance ofPhytometra gamma L. in 1959, 1961 and 1962. On the evidence of catching results at Insect-light-traps and in consequence of observations in the open air as well as in breeding cages, some biological particularities are argued. As parasites there appeared: the fungusTarichium sp., the „Raupenfliegen” (Tachinen)Voria ruralis Fall.,Platymyia westermanni Zett. and also an Ichneumonide that has not been determined strictly. Concerning the experiences on the control of the common silver moth a report will be given.

Notes: Abstract To study the stress and defense response of plant cell cultures of Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil., methyl jasmonate, salicylic acid, and cellulase were added, with ethanol and water used as controls. Comparison of methanolic extracts of the treated cells showed a clear decrease in the carbohydrate content of the cells relative to the controls. One new major compound was observed, which was isolated and identified by its spectral data as 1-O-ethyl-β-glucopyranoside. This compound was found especially in the cells treated with methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid, which were both dissolved in ethanol. Addition of ethanol alone also resulted in the formation of the glucoside. Addition of methanol lead to the formation of the corresponding glucoside, while n-propanol addition resulted in only a small amount of the propyl glucoside; with n-butanol, n-octanol, and n-decanol, the corresponding glucosides could not be observed. Cell growth was severely affected by addition of the higher alcohols. From the present study, it is clear that ethanol cannot be considered as an inert solvent for these cell cultures.
