Description / Table of Contents:
Summary (H) A method is given for the determination of lead, thorium, and uranium in zircon (and its variety cyrtolite), only 1 g. of mineral being required for the determination of these three elements in one weighed portion of material. It is of primary importance for measurements of geological time by the so-called “lead method” that the content of lead, thorium, and uranium should be determined with the greatest possible accuracy. The procedure given, which is a combination of the macro- and micromethods, has been worked out using artificial mixtures of known composition, and yields satisfactory results.
