Notes:
Summary Kirovgrad clay is of great interest to the refractory industry and may be used for manufacturing grades A and 0 chamotte parts, ladles, parts for open-hearth recuperators, etc. It is best to use it for firing the chamotte, which may be obtained in kilns of any design. Both in the natural state and in plastic-pressed specimens, the clay shows no tendency to swell when heated to 1450°C, and, in fact, continues to densify.
