    Description: A biological study was conducted to find out about reproduction and feeding of G. lacustris in Neur Lake from northwest mountains of Iran. Plankton diversity, hydro-chemical factors and substrate characteristic were recorded monthly. Findings showed that reproduction period of this species was short and limited to May and the mean brood size was 10.2 ± 5.3 eggs per female. The hydro-chemical analysis showed the eutrophic characteristic of Neur Lake in which the average of total organic matter was 3.7 ± 3.0 percent. The phyla representative Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta and Cyanophyta were observed throughout the study and Chlorophyta was the dominant group. Three zooplankton phyla Rotatoria, Ciliophora and Copepoda were abundant respectively. Study on diet using gut content resulted in identification of 15 plankton genera with some resemblance to planktons of the lake.

    Description: The Guilan province in the north of Iran has witnessed a rapid industrial development in recent years causing pollution of water resources in rivers, wetlands and the Caspian Sea coastal areas. We studied the acute toxicity of Copper and Lead in kutum fingerlings through acute toxicity and M.A.C value determination in summer and autumn 2006. A total of 21 aquariums with a capacity of 30 liters each stocked with 10 fingerlings were used in our experiments with the two metals. Six aquaria and six concentrations of Cu and Pb composed the 18 treatments while 3 other aquaria were used as control. For each treatment, three replications were conducted. The relevant physical and chemical parameters of water during the experiments were measured including pH which was in the range 7-7.5, DH=200-250mg/l (CaCO sub(3)), DO= 80% and temperature which was recorded as 24 plus or minus 1C. Fish investigations were conducted in 24 hour intervals. The results indicated that the lethal concentration (LC sub(50)96h) for Copper and Lead are 1.92mg/l and 252.12mg/l respectively and M.A.C. value for Copper and Lead are 0.192mg/l and 25.212mg/l respectively in the Caspian Sea kutum. Hence, we conclude that Copper is more toxic than Lead for the fish.

    Description: The coastal area of the water and drought graft area and the common area of the performance of two ecosystems with separate characteristics are one another. Coastal environment is a natural evolutionary system that includes the most complex and, at the same time, the richest ecosystems on the planet. This region is a transitional and highly vulnerable region and is endangered by the accumulation of pollutants due to the acceptance of drought and marine pollutants. Marine pollution and the effects of drought activities that are the result of socioeconomic development on the coastline and its catchments are one of the most important issues in most of the world, which directly affects coastal habitats. According to research conducted in Iran on identifying areas and sensitive resources, these areas and resources are divided into two distinct groups: 1) The group of biologically sensitive resources: includes mangrove forests, coral reefs, marine turtles, aquatic birds, marine plants and marine mammals. 2) The group of sensitive physical resources: includes the physical building of beaches in the sub-sections of mud, sand, rocky and hydrographic forms of shores in aquatic, estuarine, clay and small bay.
