Preparation and Crystal Structure of Allyllithium-N,N,N′,N′-Tetramethylethylenediamine, C3H5Li · tmedaThe title compound has been prepared from allyllithium and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda) and its structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods (orthorhombic space group Cmc21, Z = 8, 285 reflections, R = 0.102 omitting H atoms). The terminal C atoms of the allyl groups are linked to Li atoms forming polymeric chains … C3H5[LiC3H5]nLi …. In addition each Li atom is coordinated to a chelating tmeda ligand. The crystal investigated showed disorder in the allyl and tmeda groups.
    Notes: Die Titelverbindung wurde aus Allyllithium und N,N,N′,N′-Tetramethylethylendiamin (tmeda) dargestellt und ihre Struktur röntgenographisch bestimmt (orthorhombische Raumgruppe Cmc21, Z = 8, 285 Reflexe, R = 0.102 ohne H-Atome). Die endständigen C-Atome der Allyl-Gruppen sind an die Li-Atome unter Ausbildung von Polymerketten … C3H5[LiC3H5]nLi … gebunden. Zusätzlich ist jedes Li-Atom von einem tmeda-Chelatliganden koordiniert. Der untersuchte Kristall zeigte fehlgeordnete Allyl- und tmeda-Gruppen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Metal Alkyl and Aryl Compounds, XIX. Preparation and Crystal Structure of Methylrubidium and MethylcaesiumCH3Rb and CH3Cs are prepared from CH3Li and rubidium tert-butoxide or caesium 2-methyl-2-pentanolate, respectively. As shown by X-ray diffraction of the crystal powders the compounds possess a hexagonal structure of the NiAs type with isolated methyl anions and alkali cations like CH3K investigated earlier.
    Notes: CH3Rb und CH3Cs werden durch doppelte Umsetzung von CH3Li mit Rubidium-tert-butylat bzw. Caesium-2-methyl-2-pentanolat dargestellt. Nach röntgenographischen Untersuchungen der Kristallpulver besitzen die Verbindungen wie das bereits früher untersuchte CH3K eine hexagonale Struktur vom NiAs-Typ mit isolierten Methyl-Anionen und Alkali-Kationen.
