Notes:
Gaseous benzene and benzene-d6 have been photolyzed with a 158 nm laser. Transient species have been found to have decay rate constants (2.2±0.2)×107 s−1 and (0.7±0.2)×107 s−1, respectively. These rates are explained in terms of the C–H/C–D dissociation by the hot molecule mechanism.
