    On Oesophagostomum apiostomun (Willach) and some remarks on the Classification of the Strongylidae (1922)

    Description: When the editors of this memorial volume invited me to write a contribution, I was glad to have an opportunity to express my regard and esteem for Prof. MAX WEBER whom I have the privilege to reckon amongst my teachers. When I was a student and afterwards, when I examined material, collected by the Siboga-Expedition, which he led with so much success and the results of which are so exquisitely published, I had plenty of occasion to appreciate WEBER as man, professor and investigator. My colleague, Prof. J. POELS, director of the Rijksseruminrichting at Rotterdam, provided me with the material for this investigation: 5 worms (2 ♂♂, 3 immature ♀♀), found in nodules of the wall of the intestine of an orang-outan. They proved to belong to Oesophagostomum apiostomum (Willach), a species of which it is not superfluous to give a somewhat detailed description.

    Description: Als Herr Prof. MAX WEBER mich aufforderte einen Beitrag zu liefern zur Festschrift zum 70. Geburtstag des Herrn Dr. C. KERBERT, des verdienstvollen Direktors der K\xc3\xb6niglichen Zoologischen Gesellschaft \xe2\x80\x9eNatura Artis Magistra\xe2\x80\x9d, leistete ich mit Freude dieser Einladung Folge, da ich in den Jahren, in welchen ich als Assistent am zoologischen Institut der Universit\xc3\xa4t Amsterdam besch\xc3\xa4ftigt war, \xc3\xb6fters mit Herrn Dr. KERBERT in angenehmster Weise in Ber\xc3\xbchrung kam und mehrfach Gelegenheit hatte ihn hochsch\xc3\xa4tzen zu lernen als Mensch, Direktor des zoologischen Gartens und Forscher.\nDas Material f\xc3\xbcr diesen kleinen Beitrag zur n\xc3\xa4heren Kenntnis einiger Nematoden stammt aus dem so vorz\xc3\xbcglich von Dr. KERBERT geleiteten, Amsterdamer Zoologischen Garten. Herr Prof. WEBER \xc3\xbcberliess mir n\xc3\xa4mlich die Untersuchung einer ziemlich umfangreichen Sammlung von Nematoden und Acanthocephalen, welche im Lauf mehrerer Jahre bei der Sektion von im Tiergarten gestorbenen Tieren erbeutet waren. Bis jetzt habe ich von dieser Sammlung n\xc3\xa4her untersucht Ancylostoma perniciosum v. Linstow aus Felis pardus und Murshidia falcifera (Cobbold) aus Elephas indicus, welche W\xc3\xbcrmer den Gegenstand dieses kurzen Aufsatzes bilden.

    Description: Als wir gefragt wurden einen Beitrage f\xc3\xbcr diese Festschrift zu liefern, haben wir dies gern getan und sind also jetzt in der Lage dem Vorstand und dem t\xc3\xbcchtigen Direktor der k\xc3\xb6niglich zoologischen Gesellschaft unsere herzlichen Gl\xc3\xbcckw\xc3\xbcnsche anzubieten zum 100. Geburtstag der Gesellschaft. Wir hoffen, dass sie nach \xc3\x9cberwindung der Schwierigkeiten ein zweites ruhmvolles Jahrhundert erleben wird. Ebenso geben wird der Hoffnung Ausdruck, dass der zoologische Unterricht durch die Lage des zoologischen Instituts im zoologischen Garten und durch das angenehme Verh\xc3\xa4ltnis der Gesellschaft zum Institut fortw\xc3\xa4hrend gef\xc3\xb6rdert werden wird.\nIn diesem kurzen Aufsatz wollen wir auseinandersetzen, wie neuere Ansichten \xc3\xbcber die Segmentierung des Crustaceen-Kopfes Einfluss haben auf unsere Auffassungen des Cephalothorax der Decapoden und zugleich einige Merkmale des Cephalothorax dieser Tiere er\xc3\xb6rtern.

    Description: Herr Ed. Jacobson vertraute mir zur Bearbeitung eine kleine Sammlung S\xc3\xbcsswasser-Brachyuren an, welche er auf Java erbeutete. Mit einer Ausnahme Parathelphusa tridentata M. Edw.) stammt diese Sammlung aus den unterirdischen Fl\xc3\xbcssen des an Karsterscheinungen reichen Gebietes von Gunung Sewu. In diesen Fl\xc3\xbcssen sammelte Herr Jacobson zwei Arten von Brachyuren, von welchen die eine Parathelphusa convexa de Haan) schon von Java bekannt war, w\xc3\xa4hrend die andere neu ist. Diese neue Art geh\xc3\xb6rt zur Gattung Sesarma und ich schlage vor sie nach ihrem Entdecker S. jacobsoni zu nennen.\nHerrn Dr. J. G. de Man, dem bekannten niederl\xc3\xa4ndischen Carcinologen, der schon viele Decapoden-Forscher mit Rat und Hilfe unterst\xc3\xbctzte, bin auch ich zu besonderem Danke verpflichtet f\xc3\xbcr seine freundliche Hilfe bei der Untersuchung der Sesarma-kxi, welche er als neue Art erkannte.
