An experimental study of the dynamics of electrodissolution of iron in sulfuric acid is reported. The experiments were done under potentiostatic conditions with a rotating disk electrode as a function of two parameters, potential and electrode diameter. The dynamic behavior depends strongly on the latter parameter; with increasing electrode size we observe transitions from periodic oscillations to low-order chaos to higher-order chaos. The attractor dimension increases with increasing electrode size. In addition, for the large electrodes at more positive potentials, a secondary higher frequency oscillation also arises.
