Thiazoles and 1,3,4-Thiadiazines, XLVII. Reactivity of 2-Dimethylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazines4,4-Dimethylthiosemicarbazide (1) reacts with α-halocarbonyl compounds to give, with elimination of sulfur, pyrazoles (2a-c) or 1,3,4-thiadiazine derivates (3a-e). In boiling acetic acid 3a, c-e are converted into pyrazoles (4a-d). Boiling acetic anhydride converts 3c-e and 2-methylamino-5-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazine to the corresponding acetylated 4-mercaptopyrazoles (6a-c, 8); their structure is proved by hydrolysis in acid and alkaline media. 3-Methylamino-5-phenylpyrazole (10) is prepared by independent synthesis.
Notes:
