The temperature of formation of hexagonal Ni3N from gaseous ammonia and nickel powder (obtained by decomposition of the oxalate at 600°C in hydrogen atmosphere) is strongly dependent on the NH3 current velocity.The interaction between nickel and ammonia is catalytically influenced by iron or Fe—Ni alloys which are easily nitridated.

Untersuchungen an aus Oxalat hergestelltem Nickelpulver (im Wasserstoffstrom bei 600°C zersetzt) zeigten eine starke Abhängigkeit der Bildungstemperatur des hexagonalen Ni3N von der Ammoniak-Strömungsgeschwindigkeit.Die Reaktion zwischen Nickel und Ammoniak kann durch Eisen oder leichtnitridierbare Eisen-Nickel-Legierungen katalytisch beeinflußt werden.
