Notes: Time evolution, ergodic properties, and invariant measures of some classical fields described by second-order differential equations are discussed. The classical system is not ergodic. A class of Markovian random perturbations is considered. It is shown that the stochastic system with a fixed stochastic perturbation is uniquely ergodic. We discuss in detail the Euler equation in two dimensions and the wave equation in one dimension. In our models an arbitrarily small stochastic perturbation selects one of the invariant measures for the deterministic system.

Notes: We express the unitary time evolution in nonrelativistic regularized quantum electrodynamics at zero and positive temperature by a Feynman integral defined in terms of a complex Brownian motion. An average over the quantum electromagnetic field determines the form of the quantum mechanics in an environment of a quantum black body radiation. In this nonperturbative formulation of quantum electrodynamics we prove the existence of the classical limit (h-dash-bar)→0. We estimate an error to some approximations commonly applied in quantum radiation theory. © 1998 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: A class of functions HnF was chosen, which are boundary values of holomorphic functions. It was shown that if the potential V∈HnF and the initial wave function ψ∈HnF then the solution of the Schrödinger equation is ψt∈HnF. The unitary evolution ψ → ψt can be expressed by an integral with respect to the Wiener measure. To each ψt∈HnF is associated a complex Markov process qt fulfilling stochastic Hamilton equations. The time evolution of ψ as well as multitime correlation functions of arbitrary observables in quantum mechanics take the form of expectation values with respect to qt. Some statistical and ergodic aspects of quantum mechanics resulting from the stochastic interpretation of Feynman's sum over trajectories are discussed.

Notes: A representation of the SL(2,C) current algebra in terms of Hermitian currents constructed from free fields is obtained. The representation is not of the highest weight type. The restriction k≥4 on the Kac–Moody central charge k is obtained. If k=4, then the Sugawara construction defines the energy-momentum tensor equal to the energy-momentum tensor of the free-field theory.

Notes: Abstract Hölder continuity of sample paths of the stochastic process ξ t (f)=ϕ(δ t f) (f ∈Y(R d−1)) in Euclidean field theory is proved under some assumptions on correlation functions. These assumptions are fulfilled inP(ϕ)2 and in theories in which the GHS inequality holds. The continuity index α is determined by the condition ∝dσ(p)|p 0|2α〈∞, wheredσ(p) is the Fourier transform of the two-point function.

Notes: Abstract: We set up a forward - backward path integral for a point particle in a bath of photons to derive a master equation for the density matrix which describes electromagnetic dissipation and decoherence. We also derive the associated Langevin equation. As an application, we recalculate the Wigner-Weisskopf formula for the natural line width of an atomic state at zero temperature and find, in addition, the temperature broadening caused by the decoherence term. Our master equation also yields the correct Lamb shift of atomic levels. The two equations may have applications to dilute interstellar gases or to few-particle systems in cavities.
