Notes: [Auszug] We have been unable to detect any DMPE in the urines of either acute11 or chronic schizophrenics who had been given a potent monoamiiie oxidase inhibitor12. We have found, however, that schizophrenic patients, and other psychotic or mentally defective patients in mental hospitals, and even mentally ...

Notes: [Auszug] A RELATIONSHIP between schizophrenia and the urinary excretion of 3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine has been proposed by Friedhoff and Van Winkle1'2, and supported by other groups of investigators3-6. Fischer et aZ.7'8 reported that they found bufotenin in the urines of schizophrenic patients, but not ...

Notes: [Auszug] Quantities of urine containing 100 mg of creatinine were first, lyophilized to reduce their volume, and were then applied to preparative columns of Dowex 50 8, 200?400 mesh. The ion exchange columns, 45 2.16 cm, were developed with a pH 3.50 pyridine acetate buffer (0.2 M in pyridine) at a flow ...

Notes: Abstract On 16 June 1972, the Naval Research Laboratory's coronagraph aboard OSO-7 tracked a huge coronal cloud moving outward from the Sun. Concurrent observations of the inner corona made by the High Altitude Observatory at Mauna Loa showed bifurcation of the underlying coronal structure. Together, these observations can be interpreted as evidence for the stretching of the closed fields into a ‘magnetic bottle’, extending to at least eight radii from the center of the Sun.

Notes: Abstract A fast coronal transient event was observed simultaneously on 17 February 1972 by the Sacramento Peak Observatory 6-in. λ 5303 filter coronagraph and the High Altitude Observatory K-coronameter. We interpret the rapid opening of green line structure cospatial with the disappearance of a white light streamer as material motion of iron ions and electrons. Together with the subsequent two-fold increase in K-corona brightness in an adjacent region, this is taken as evidence of a transference of electrons to a new streamer in a realignment of magnetic flux tubes accompanying a flare.

Notes: Abstract Central-meridian passage of coronal equatorial arches is followed, statistically, after about 7 days by geomagnetic disturbance. Sector-boundary crossings at Earth are most likely to occur 5 days after arch CMP, while metric noise sources cluster at the location of the arches. This agrees with the location of the noise sources relative to sector boundaries described by Sakurai and Stone (1971), rather than with that found by Martres et al. (1970) for 1964 and 1966, and may indicate evolution of the relation between coronal and interplanetary structure. We looked for, but did not find, clustering of coronal arches at a particular phase of the Olsen rotation scheme.

Notes: Abstract Because of the progressive decrease in rotation rate of the solar plasma at increasing latitudes, the photospheric foot-points of large-scale closed magnetic structures in the corona, which are originally widely separated in longitude, may ultimately be brought into proximity. Magnetic mergers and reconnections between magnetic fields of opposite polarity are presumed to occur, producing major structural changes in the corona and in the locations of underlying filaments. Thus we believe that the differential rotation phenomenon is essential to understanding both gradual (evolutionary) and sudden (transient) changes in the corona, and that they can occur without any observable change in the photospheric magnetic flux. A process is suggested for the splitting or bifurcation of a high-latitude magnetic structure, producing two separate components at the same latitude, whose rotation rates are influenced by their respective magnetic linkages to other regions on the Sun.

Notes: Abstract A process is suggested by which a coronal structure (with underlying filament) may form between a polar crown structure and a low-latitude bipolar region. During the ascending phase of the solar cycle the identifying underlying filament should lie poleward and westward of the active region, but during the descending phase it should appear as an eastward extension of the filament separating leader and follower photospheric fields within the active region.

Notes: Abstract By tracing the positions of filaments on the solar disk for a series of consecutive Carrington rotations, one can make a compact representation of the changes in general topology of photospheric magnetic fields during the course of a solar cycle. Examples are shown for the time period 1964–1974, which may provide some insight into the long-term relationship of the mid-latitude diagonal filaments and the high latitude polar crown.
