Notes: Abstract It is noted that the chemical reactions occurring in rarefied cosmic clouds (molecular concentration ≲102 cm−3) differ from similar laboratory reactions by the much greater effect on the outcome of external force fields. In this light it is hypothesized that the synthesis of optically active substances may occur in the outer space under the conjoint stereospecific effect of a magnetic and other molecule-orienting field. It is further conjectured that the optically active substances of the Solar System had been produced in the course of its formation out of the primal rarefied cloud.

Notes: Abstract The concepts on the spatially-periodic condensation in the solar system have been considered in the light of the general theory of the evolution of the solar system. It has been shown that as protodisks arise and compress, the role of hydromagnetic effects weakens. After the stage of spatially-periodic condensation and accretion, the concentration of gas in protodisks decreases and the role of hydromagnetic effects increases again. Specific features of the formation of planets near the Sun and satellites near the planets can be explained if these peculiarities of the evolution are taken into account. The corresponding role of the above processes has been evaluated numerically. The accretion of gas molecules both by jet streams arising after spatially-periodic condensation and by planet embryos has also been considered. Characteristic times of these processes have been estimated. The results obtained show that the general concept on the solar system evolution (Alfvén and Arrhenius, 1976) is in good agreement with the mechanism of spatially-periodic condensation, which takes place during the formation of primary rings of the solar and satellite systems (Gladyshev, 1977).

Notes: Abstract The author of the present paper hopes that the thermodynamic nature of biological evolution will be perceived in the nearest future. He suggests a macrothermodynamic model that takes into account the fact that in the course of ontogenesis, philogenesis and the appropriate stages of the general biological evolution the biosystems are enriched by energy-intensive chemical substances, which force water out of these systems. Moreover, macrothermodynamics helps one to understand adaptive changes in the composition and structure of the biosystems.

Notes: Abstract The present study develops a previously suggested physico-chemical theory, according to which the regular structure of planetary and satellite systems is explained on the basis of notions regarding periodic condensation of gaseous matter in space and time during formation of the centre body. An accurate solution is provided for the problem on the periodic chemical reaction in space and time at diffusion of reacting substances from two unlimited-capacity sources separated by a definite distance. A precise theory for the above phenomenon has been developed for the case when the critical concentration of the resultant substance (A) is estimated from the condition min(a, b)=A, wherea andb are the reacting component concentrations.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract The possible application of a kinetic model for the quantitative estimation of the inhibiting ability of natural compounds of unknown composition and structure has been studied. The antioxidative ability of several petroleums and their high-molecular weight components has been quantitatively estimated. Petroleums of different types possess an inhibiting activity, which is mainly determined by their tar components. In their antioxidative ability these substances equal and sometimes even surpass the activity of known commercial stabilizers.

Notes: Abstract The Introduction of a highly dispersed mixture of Fe and FeO into amorphous-crystalline and amorphous polymers leads to microstructural changes, leading to an increase in the molecular engagement grid and change in the polymer properties. The most likely reason for the microstructural changes of the polymer compositions studied is a magnetic interaction of the iron and ferrous oxide particles with the polymer matrix.

Notes: Abstract The structural features of polyethylene composites stabilized with a highly dispersed mixture of Fe and FeO have a complex effect on forced elasticity. A study was carried out on the dependence of the forced elasticity limit of the samples on the density of the fluctuational network of molecular engagements and extent of crystallinity during stretch testing at from 293 to 393 K.

Notes: A general detailed model of polymer oxidative degradation in the presence of a stabilizer-oxygen acceptor was considered. The motion of the degradation zone boundary and the sample lifetime were obtained for various conditions of the process. In particular, it is shown that within the given concentration immobile oxygen acceptor has the best stabilizing properties. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental data obtained by using two independent methods: polymer sample cracking and a change in the ESR signal. Good agreement between theory and experiment was obtained.

Notes: It has been discovered that chemical compounds generated in some polymeric samples or articles and possessing high activity in the reactions with oxygen and free radicals as well as yielding inert products in the above reactions may stabilize the polymeric materials by inhibiting oxidative (and even thermal) degradation. The phenomenon described has both theoretical and experimental evidence.
