Metal Alkyl and Aryl Compounds, 391. - Sodium Organomagnesates and Magnesiumdiorganyls with Phenyl and tert-Butyl-ethinyl Ligands. Preparative and X-ray InvestigationsThe preparation and structural characterisation of the first sodium organomagnesates is described. Reaction of phenylsodium with diphenylmagnesium in the presence of the tridentate chelate ligand pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDTA) gives [Na(pmdta)]2[MgPh4] (5). Each of the solvated Na ions is in contact with two phenyl groups which form asymmetric bridges to Mg. The coordination of Mg is tetrahedral, the Na ions achieve a pentacoordination. - Treating phenylsodium, diphenylmagnesium, and tert-butylethyne in the presence of tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) or PMDTA yields Na2[Mg(C≡CtBu)3(tmeda)]2 (6) and Na2[Mg(C≡CtBu)3(pmdta)]2 (7), respectively. Both contain magnesate units with trigonal-bipyramidal coordination of Mg2+ (three alkynyl ligands and two N atoms of the amine); two Na ions, being in contact to four acetylidic C atoms each, connect the magnesate ions. - Finally the neutral compound Mg(C≡CtBu)2(tmeda)2 (8) is described. It contains Mg2+ with a pseudo-octahedral coordination, the alkinyl groups occupying trans-positions.
Notes:
