Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Results of trace analyses are quantified in terms of divergence information measures in cases when: (i) the content of the component to be determined is less than the determination limit of the analytical method used; (ii) the content of the component to be determined is greater than the determination limit and the results of the analysis are distributed normally; (iii) the content of the component to be determined is greater than the determination limit and the results of the analysis have a log-normal distribution. The influence of the precision and of the determination limit upon the information content is shown by an example of determining 12 elements by different methods. The possibility of adopting other information quantities such as equivocation, information performance, and information profitability is mentioned with respect to the optimization of trace analysis procedures.
