X-Ray and I.R. Studies of Solid Solutions Cu3V(SxSe1-x)4 and Cu3V(SexTe1-x)4 of Sulvanite StructureSolid solutions Cu3V(SxSe1-x)4 with Sulvanite structure have been prepared in the range 0 ≤ x ≤1. The lattice constants decrease linearly with x. Solid solutions Cu3V(SexTe1-x)4 exist in the ranges 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2 and 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 1.0. Besides the Sulvanite mixed crystals, Cu1.44Te and CuTe are formed. I.r. spectra have been measured from 50 to 500 cm-1. Presuming independently vibrating groups VS4, VS3Se, VS2Se2, VSSe3, and VSe4, part of the i.r. peaks could be interpreted as valence vibrations of these groups by comparing the peak intensities with the statistical occurence of these groups.
Notes:
