    Description / Table of Contents: Corrosion tests on aluminium in halogenated hydrocarbons of practical importanceSpecially selected aluminium alloys (Al99.5, AlMn, AlMgMn, and AlMg4.5Mn) were tested as to their corrosion behaviour in the halogenated hydrocarbons CCl4, C2Cl4, and CCl3CH3.In the stabilized halogenated hydrocarbons C2Cl4 and CCl3CH3, at boiling temperature and three months' time of exposure, no losses of weight of the aluminium materials were observed.However, for the systems of aluminium material exposed to CCl4 (at boiling temperature) as well as to nonstabilized CCl3CH3, the incubation times - after which large corrosion rates then were observed - are typical.The hydrolysis product HCl is the determining corrosion factor for the aluminium materials in the two-phase systems of halocarbons and water tested.
    Notes: Es wurde das Korrosionsverhalten von ausgewählten Aluminiumlegierungen (Al99.5 - AlMn - AlMgMn und AlMg4,5Mn) in den Halogenkohlenwasserstoffen (HKW) CCl4, C2Cl4 und CCl3CH3 untersucht.In den stabilisierten Halogenkohlenwasserstoffen C2Cl4 und CCl3CH3 wurde bei Siedetemperaturen und Expositionszeiten von drei Monaten kein Massenabtrag an den Aluminiumwerkstoffen beobachtet.Dagegen sind für die Systeme der Aluminiumwerkstoffe in CCl4 (bei Siedetemperatur) sowie in unstabilisiertem CCl3CH3 die Inkubationszeiten charakteristisch, nach denen dann große Korrosionsraten beobachtet wurden.In den Zweiphasensystemen der untersuchten Halogenkohlenwasserstoffe und Wasser wird die Korrosion an den Aluminiumwerkstoffen durch das Hydrolyseprodukt HCl bestimmt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Corrosion of aluminium and aluminium alloys in nitric acidA literature survey was made to show the suitability of aluminium and aluminium alloys in contact with highly concentrated nitric acid, particularly with regard to the corrosion behaviour of weld joints made using various welding processes.The corrosion resistance of Al99.5 in nitric acid was investigated as functions of temperature and acid concentrations. The linear corrosion rates are plotted in an Arrhenius diagram. Decreasing nitric acid concentrations are causing a parallel shift of the lines in the Arrhenius diagram towards higher corrosion rates.Starting with A199.5, the corrosion rates in nitric acid at and above 99.8 concentration decrease as the A1 contents of the materials increase. Doping with copper should be avoided.After exposure of wrought as well as continuously cast A1 and A1 alloys to highly concentrated technical grade nitric acid at 30 °C (1 year test period), the corrosion behaviour of a number of alloys was comparable to that of pure aluminium grades.
    Notes: Auswertung des Schrifttums über die Eignung von Aluminium-Werkstoffen zur Handhabung von hochkonzentrierter Salpetersäure, vornehmlich im Hinblick auf das Korrosionsverhalten von nach unterschiedlichen Verfahren hergestellten Schweißverbindungen.Untersuchungen zur Temperatur- und Konzentrationsabhängigkeit der Korrosion von Al99,5 in Salpetersäuren. Die linearen Abtragungsraten ordnen sich in ein Arrhenius-Diagramm ein, wobei abnehmende Salpetersäure-Konzentrationen eine Parallel-Verschiebung der Geraden im Arrhenius-Diagramm in Richtung höherer Abtragungsraten bewirken.Ausgehend von Al99,5 verringern sich die Abtragungsraten in ≥ 99,8%iger Salpetersäure mit zunehmendem Al-Gehalt der Werkstoffe; Kupfer-Dotierungen sind zu vermeiden.Nach der Auslagerung von Al-Werkstoffen (Knetwerkstoffe und Strangguß) in technischer, auf 30°C erwärmter hochkonzentrierter Salpetersäure zeigten (Prüfdauer: 1 Jahr) eine Reihe von Legierungen ein den Reinaluminium-Sorten vergleichbares Korrosionsverhalten.

    Description / Table of Contents: The Crystal Structure of K3IO5The crystal structure of K3IO5, tetragonal, space group P4/ncc-D4h8, was determined by X-ray and neutron powder diffraction. It is closely related to that of (NH4)3FeF6, with a tetragonally deformed unit cell, the c lattice constant being twice as large as that of the fluorine compound, and with tetragonal IO5 pyramids replacing the octahedral FeF6 complexes.
    Notes: Die Kristallstruktur von K3JO5, tetragonal, Raumgruppe P4/ncc-D4h8, wurde durch Röntgen- und Neutronenbeugungsversuche an Pulverpräparaten bestimmt. Sie ist eng verwandt mit der von (NH4)3FeF6, wobei unter tetragonaler Verzerrung und Verdoppelung der c-Gitterkonstante die FeF6-Komplexe durch tetragonal-pyramidale JO5-Gruppen ersetzt sind.

    Description / Table of Contents: Mesoperiodates M3IO5 of Rubidium and CaesiumMesoperiodates M3IO5 of rubidium and caesium were prepared by solid state reactions from metaperiodates MIO4 and alkali hyperoxides. From X-ray powder data, the alkali and iodine positions were found to agree with an orthorhombic variant of the (NH4)3FeF6 structure, probably with pyramidal IO5 groups in the place of FeF6 octahedra. Cs3ReO5 is an isostructural compound.
    Notes: Mesoperjodate M3JO5 des Rubidiums und Caesiums wurden durch Festkörperreaktionen aus Metaperjodaten MJO4 und Alkalihyperoxiden dargestellt. Den Röntgenpulverdaten zufolge entspricht die Lage der Alkali- und Jodatome einer orthorhombisch verzerrten (NH4)3FeF6-Struktur, wobei wahrscheinlich pyramidale JO5-Gruppen an die Stelle der FeF6-Komplexe treten. Mit gleicher Struktur kristallisiert auch Cs3ReO5.
