Summary This paper deals with the yeastDebaryomyces artagaveytiae Bat., J. Silveira &Coelho n. sp. found in woman genital secretion. This fungus is characterised by its biochemical ability to grow in sugar media having glucose, galactose, saccharose and maltose but it does not fermentate these sugars, nor maltose. The mycelium is lacking but through an isogamic conjugation asci are developed, containing from 1 to 4 globose ascospores. The infected woman has been treated successfully with colpomicin.
