Conclusions 1. The hysteresis loops of transparent uniaxial ferromagnetics with a Faraday angle of under 0.1 rad may best be recorded by reading the angle of rotation of the analyzer as a function of the magnetic field, this procedure giving the greatest signal/noise ratio. 2. If the Faraday angle is greater than 0.2 rad, a correction due to the nonlinearity of the function Θk must be introduced when using this method of recording, or else a recording method based on the linear relation between the photocurrent and the quantity k should be used. 3. An increase in the signal/noise ratio may be achieved by stabilizing the source of light flux, improving the quality of the polarization systems, and slightly increasing the modulation frequency.
