Conclusions 1. The IR spectra were studied in the region of the vibrations of the metal-sulfur bond for O,O′-diethyldithiophosphate, O-ethylxanthogenate, and N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate complexes of Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Pb(II), and Ni(II). 2. An empirical assignment of the bands corresponding to the valence vibrations of the metal-sulfur bonds (v M-S) was made. 3. The frequenciesv M-S were compared with the stability constants of the compounds studied. The increase in the stability of the chelates in the series of ligands diethyldithiophosphate 〈 ethylxanthogenate 〈 diethyldithiocarbamate is correlated with the increase in the frequency of the valence vibration of the metal-sulfur bond.
