Notes: Abstract LMP7 is one of the two proteasome subunits encoded in the major histocompatibility complex and is speculated to play a role in the generation of endogenous peptides for presentation by class I molecules to cytotoxic T cells. Here we report the genomic organization of the mouse Lmp-7 gene and the tissue distribution of its messenger RNA. In contrast to human LMP7 which is composed of seven exons and six introns, the mouse Lmp-7 gene is organized in six exons and five introns. Interestingly, the region corresponding to the first exon of human LMP7 is highly modified by numerous insertions and deletions and contains two in frame stop codons. Consequently, the mouse Lmp-7 gene does not allow the alternative exon usage described in humans and most likely encodes for only one LMP7 protein. Thus, the Tap-1 3′ end gene region and the Lmp-7 initial translation codon are separated by an 1182 nucleotide region which contains a TATA-box, a cAMP regulatory element, two SP1 sites, and two G-C-rich regions. Expression of the Lmp-7 messenger RNA was analyzed on different tissues from unstimulated mice. Lmp-7 messenger RNA is expressed in spleen, thymus, lung, liver, heart, and, at a very low level, in kidney but not in brain and testis. The possible role of Lmp genes in antigen processing is discussed.

Notes: BT resins composed of 4,4’-bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI) and2,2’-bis-(4-cyanatophenyl)propane (BCE) were modified by octa(maleimidophenyl) silsesquioxane(OMPS). It was found that the curing reaction of BCE were accelerated by OMPS, and the onsettemperature of the cyclotrimerization was reduced up to 95.5°C (by DSC). As demonstrated by DSCand FT-IR, there was no evidence indicated the co-reaction between maleimide and cyanate ester.2,2’-diallyl bisphenol A (DBA) and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (E-51) were also used to enhancethe toughness of BT resins, and the formulated BTA and BTE resins were obtained. The results ofDMA and TG show that the BT, BTA, and BTE resins containing 1wt% of OMPS exhibit enhancedthermal properties in comparison with pristine BT0, BTA0, and BTE0 resins, while more content ofOMPS may impair the polymer matrix, though the effect of OMPS was slight. The dielectric constantof these hybrid materials were reduced by incorporation of OMPS, while overmuch contents ofOMPS were disadvantageous for dielectric constant due to the aggregation of OMPS

Notes: Abstract Based on Chun-Tu Liu's result for Reissner's plate, an equation of caustics in cracked plate under symmetric bending was obtained. The shape and the distribution of light intensity of the caustic curve were discussed in detail. The relation between the stress intensity factor (SIF) and the size of the caustic curve was found by numerical method, and a simple and accurate experimental method for evaluating SIF in plate under bending was proposed.

Notes: A type of system boundary, e.g. a membrane in biology, a castle in sociology, a typhoon eye in meteorology and a skin and fur on an animal body, is defined as a shell (jieke in Chinese), if the system boundary plays roles of both defending the system and exchanging between the system and its environment. Investigates the system boundary. Derives the entropy balance equation of the shell and deduces the criterion of the exchange ratio entropy which carries material out through the shell of the system from the second law of thermodynamics of the system. Also derives a dynamic equation of the shell from control theory and gives an application of the equation to immigration control by the customs.

Notes: We describe efficient electroluminescence from a terbium complex, tris-(1-phenyl-3-methyl-4isobutyryl-5-pyrozolone)-bis(triphenyl phosphine oxide) terbium (PTT). The green-emitting material possesses much higher photoluminescence efficiency compared to the commonly used green light emitter, 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum (ALQ). The rarely observed emission from the hole transport layer, N, N′-bis (3-methylphenyl)- N, N′-diphenyl-benzidine (TPD) of the device ITO/TPD/PTT/Al proves that PTT also is a good electron transporting material. The ITO/TPD/PTT/ALQ/Al device shows luminance up to 920 cd/m2 at a drive voltage of 18 V and a luminous efficiency of 0.51 lm/W at a current density of 0.70 mA/cm2, which are up to now the highest among devices using rare-earth complex materials as emitters. © 1998 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: The volumetric positioning precision of CNC machine tools is the key factor to get highmachining precision, so the analysis, measurement and compensation of the volumetric error isbecoming more and more important. In this paper, the modeling results of 3-axes CNC machinetools with four different configurations are given based on rigid body theory and homogeneouscoordination transformation matrices. An improved sequential step diagonal measurement methodis proposed and analyzed because the current laser measurement methods are complex and timecost. At the final section of the paper, the measurement data was applied into the errorcompensation and the sequential step diagonal measurement method was validated efficient andconvenient

Notes: Thermal errors of CNC machine tools was checked and measured by double-ball bar inthis paper. Mathematical model of measuring thermal error of machine tools by DBB on theprinciple of its basic measurement was derived. Combining it with kinematics model of machinetool, the identification law of error component parameters was established when thermal error waschecked and measured by DBB. Thus, all of the thermal error component would be separated fromthe synthetical error. Finally, the entire analysis was provided to adjust machine tool and actualizeerror compensation of machine tool through grasping main factors influencing the machiningprecision of machine tool

Notes: Abstract To date, no pure bacterial cultures that could degrade acetochlor have been described. In this study, one strain of microorganism capable of degrading acetochlor, designated as LCa2, was isolated from acetochlor-contaminated soil. The strain LCa2 is Pseudomonas oleovorans according to the criteria of Bergey’s manual of determinative bacteriology and sequence analysis of the partial 16S rRNA gene. Optimum growth temperature and pH were 35 °C and 8.0, respectively. The strain could degrade 98.03% of acetochlor treated at a concentration of 7.6 mg l−1 after 7 days of incubation and could tolerate 200 mg l−1 of acetochlor. When the acetochlor concentration became higher, the degradation cycle became longer. The acetochlor biodegradation products were identified by GC–MS based on mass spectral data and fragmentation patterns. The main plausible degradative pathways involved dechlorination, hydroxylation, N-dealkylation, C-dealkylation and dehydrogenation.
