Lithos, 160-161, 216-227, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.lithos.2012.12.015

Description: The Duolong porphyry Cu-Au deposit (5.4 Mt at 0.72% Cu, 41 t at 0.23 g/t Au), which is related to the granodiorite porphyry and the quartz-diorite porphyry from the Bangongco copper belt in central Tibet, formed in a continental arc setting. Here, we present the zircon U-Pb ages, geochemical whole-rock, Sr-Nd whole-rock and zircon in-situ Hf-O isotopic data for the Duolong porphyries. Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) zircon U-Pb analyses for six samples yielded consistent ages of ~118 Ma, indicating a Cretaceous formation age. The Duolong porphyries (SiO2 of 58.81-68.81 wt.%, K2O of 2.90-5.17 wt.%) belong to the high-K calc-alkaline series. They show light rare earth element (LREE)-enriched distribution patterns with (La/Yb)N = 6.1-11.7, enrichment in large ion lithophile elements (e.g., Cs, Rb, and Ba) and depletion of high field strength elements (e.g., Nb), with negative Ti anomalies. All zircons from the Duolong porphyries share relatively similar Hf-O isotopic compositions (d18O=5.88-7.27 per mil; eHf(t)=3.6-7.3), indicating that they crystallized from a series of cogenetic melts with various degrees of fractional crystallization. This, along with the general absence of older inherited zircons, rules out significant crustal contamination during zircon growth. The zircons are mostly enriched in d18O relative to mantle values, indicating the involvement of an 18O-enriched crustal source in the generation of the Duolong porphyries. Together with the presence of syn-mineralization basaltic andesite, the mixing between silicic melts derived from the lower crust and evolved H2O-rich mafic melts derived from the metsomatizied mantle wedge, followed by subsequent fractional crystallization (FC) and minor crustal contamination in the shallow crust, could well explain the petrogenesis of the Duolong porphyries. Significantly, the hybrid melts possibly inherited the arc magma characteristics of abundant F, Cl, Cu, and Au elements and high oxidation state, which contributed to the formation of the Duolong porphyry Cu-Au deposit.

Description: The Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas (SOCAT), an activity of the international marine carbon research community, provides access to synthesis and gridded fCO2 (fugacity of carbon dioxide) products for the surface oceans. Version 2 of SOCAT is an update of the previous release (version 1) with more data (increased from 6.3 million to 10.1 million surface water fCO2 values) and extended data coverage (from 1968-2007 to 1968-2011). The quality control criteria, while identical in both versions, have been applied more strictly in version 2 than in version 1. The SOCAT website (http://www.socat.info/) has links to quality control comments, metadata, individual data set files, and synthesis and gridded data products. Interactive online tools allow visitors to explore the richness of the data. Applications of SOCAT include process studies, quantification of the ocean carbon sink and its spatial, seasonal, year-to-year and longerterm variation, as well as initialisation or validation of ocean carbon models and coupled climate-carbon models.

Notes: In this paper, the influence of nickel (Ni) nano-powders addition on the microstructuresand dielectric properties of Ba(Ti,Zr)O3 based Y5V non-reducing ceramics were investigated. TheX-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicated that the primary phase was Ba(Ti,Zr)O3 and no Ni phaseappeared until the amount of Ni exceeded 5mol%. Scanning electron microscope (SEM)observation showed that the Ni particles distributed homogenously throughout BTZ ceramic matrix. The incorporation of Ni altered the perovskite lattice parameters and thus led to the change ofpolarization degree under electric field and the improvement of the dielectric constant at Curietemperature

Notes: Causes are analyzed to the three shelling failures of railway 353130B type of rollerbearings on China 70t grade of freight cars with K5 type of tilting bogie. These bearings are all failedin service lives less than two years, which is quit less than the overhaul inspection interval of 800, 000km mileage of vehicles and the design life of 2, 000, 000 km mileage. The failures are all originatedfrom the position at the outer ring inboard side nearly to the seal seat. Metallurgical observationsreveal that the material chemical composition and microstructures are all in the reasonable rangeexcept for the hardness values. This implies that the manufacturing techniques may not match therequirements to lead to the reduction of fatigue strength. Elastic-plastic finite element (EPFE)analysis reveals that the position at the outer ring inboard side nearly to the seal seat is subjected tothe maximum equivalent stress amplitude, which well match the situations of failures. In addition, acomparison is made to the bearing on the same axle weight freight cars But K6 type of bogie. Resultsreveal the maximum stress amplitude for K5 type of bogie is larger than that for K6 type of bogie. This means the bearings failures are relative to the local structures. Therefore, both the manufacturingtechniques and the bogie structures should be advanced to improve the bearing service lives

Notes: Ce3+-doped SrGa2O4 was synthesized by citrate-gel with citric acid as chelate agent andsintered in a slightly reduced atmosphere of hydrogen and nitrogen mixture. It was found that thephosphor synthesized by citrate-gel can be sintered at relatively lower temperature. The luminescentproperties of Ce3+-activated SrGa2O4 and the complex Sr(Ga-Al)2O4 were studied

Notes: In this paper, hot compression tests were carried out using a Gleeble-3500 simulator to establishthe law of hot deformation and recrystallization behavior, and to generate the correspondingprocessing maps. The influence of Mo was also investigated by comparing the results of hotdeformation in such steel. The addition of molybdenum to stainless steel slightly increases the hotdeformation stress and recrystallization temperature, while reduces the efficiency of powerdissipation η
