Notes: Property performance needs to be measured and monitored so as to ensure the maintenance of a match between an organization's business and property strategies. Useful measures of property performance need to be developed jointly by researchers and practitioners of corporate real estate management. Presents the ongoing Property Performance Measurement Study, conducted under the auspices of DEGW's Workplace Forum and in collaboration with the Corporate Real Estate Management Research Unit (CREMRU) at the University of Reading. First, introduces the conceptual framework; then discusses the organizational framework provided by the Workplace Forum; proceeds by discussing several research findings to date; and, last, provides several conclusions about further work in this important area of collaboration between researchers and practitioners.

Notes: The annual survey of corporate real estate practices has been conducted by CREMRU since 1993, and in collaboration with JCI since 1997. The survey has been supported by IDRC and NACORE, two leading professional associations concerned with corporate real estate. This summary of the six annual surveys focuses on the incidence of corporate real estate management (CREM) policies, functions and activities, as well as the assessment of knowledge or skills relevant to the CREM function in the future. Both are of vital interest to educational institutions concerned with this field, as well as the personnel and training functions within organizations concerned with better management of their property.

Notes: This paper introduces a new class of supply-side multiregional input-output (MRIO) models and provides the necessary and sufficient conditions on the regional trade matrices that ensure that a generalized supply-side model will be convergent. The paper also introduces a new version of the row coefficient model, conceived as the “mirror image” of the Chenery-Moses demand-side column coefficient MRIO model. Given that the conventional supply-side input-output model has been shown to perform equally as well as the demand side model in forecasting exercises, the supply-side MRIO model is expected to be of value for policy and planning purposes. Moreover, this model is of potential theoretical value for a broad synthesis of demand-side and supply-side MRIO models.

Notes: Summarizes the results of a recent survey of chief real estate officers(CREOs) from major organizations in Europe and the United States. Thesurvey was supported by the Industrial Development Research Council(IDRC) and the International Association of Corporate Real EstateExecutives (NACORE International), leading professional associationsconcerned with this field. The survey suggests that American CREOs maybe more efficient in managing their real estate than their Europeancolleagues, while the latter consider various areas of managementknowledge and skills of greater importance than the former. This isreflected in the greater incidence of formal policies, functions, andactivities regarding corporate real estate in Europe than in the UnitedStates. This apparent "paradox" may indicate comparative maturity andstability of this professional field in the United States.

Notes: Summarizes the results of the 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996 surveys of chief real estate officers (CREOs) from major organizations in Europe and North America. The annual survey has been supported by the International Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE International) and the Industrial Development Research Council (IDRC), two leading professional associations concerned with this field of professional activity. The emphasis of this summary is on two aspects of the survey: the incidence of corporate real estate management (CREM) policies, functions, and activities; and the assessment of knowledge or skills relevant to the CREM function in the future. Both are of paramount interest to the educational institutions concerned with CREM on both sides of the Atlantic. This includes the educational organs of international organizations concerned with corporate real estate, such as NACORE and IDRC, which play increasingly important roles in the education of their members. The CREMRU annual survey will hopefully offer a useful tool in the international educational effort in this field.
