Notes:
Summary In a double-blind study the analgesic activity of a new compound, diviminol 100 mg, was compared with that of codeine 60 mg, and a placebo given as single oral doses to three comparable groups of 30, 31 and 32 patients with post-partum pain. The two drugs were very significantly more active than the placebo on comparing both the hourly pain relief scores, and the frequency of satisfactory analgesia. There was no significant difference between the new drug and the reference coumpound. No undesirable side-effects were noted. These results in post-partum pain provide additional evidence that diviminol is a clinically effective analgesic agent.
