Description / Table of Contents:
Copolymers of acrylic acid and polyvinylalcohol are obtained by acid saponification of vinylacetate-acrylic acid copolymers. The content of acrylic acid was 10, 1 and 0.1 mol percents. The salts are obtained by adding the corresponding amounts of potassium, sodium or lithium hydroxyde. By using samples of a suitable form of these salts the electric conductivity was investigated as a function of the pressure of steam. In dried state all these substances are relative good isolators. In swelled state the spezific conductivity increases with the amount of carboxyl groups. But if it is based on the equivalent conductivity the highest values are obtained from the polymer with the lowest number of carboxyl groups. Like in aqueous electrolytes the lowest migration velocity is that of the lithium ion. A detailed discussion will follow after the corresponding measurements of swelling.
Notes:
