Das aus 2.7-Dimethyl-octadien-(2.6)-diol-(1.8) gebildete 1.8-Dibrom-2.7-dimethyl-octadien-(2.6) wird mit 2 Moll. Na-Malonsäurediäthylester zum 1.1.10.10-Tetracarbäthoxy-3.8-dimethyl-decadien-(3.7) umgesetzt; Verseifung und Decarboxylierung führt zur 4.9-Dimethyl-dodecadien-(4.8)-disäure-(1.12), aus der beim Kochen mit Säure das 4.9-Dimethyl-4.9-dihydroxy-dodecandisäure-(1.12)-dilacton entsteht. - Das durch Oxydation mit aktivem MnO2 aus 2.7-Dimethyl-octadien-(2.6)-diol-(1.8) u. a. erhältliche rohe 2.7-Dimethyloctadien-(2.6)-dial-(1.8) wird mit 2 Moll. Malonsäure kondensiert, wobei sich das 4.9-Dimethyl-5.8-dihydroxy-dodecadien-(2.10)-disäure-(1.12)-dilacton bildet.
