Description / Table of Contents:
According to RAMAN spectra and conductivity measurements, in anhydrous selenie acid the equilibrium 2 H2SeO4 ⇄ H3O+ + HSe2O7- occurs (analogously in molten D2SeO4).Addition of selenium trioxide to selenic acid results in the formation of diselenic acid, H2Se2O7, which up to 20 mol-% of selenium trioxide reacts partially with the mono-acid yielding H3SeO4+ and HSe2O7- ions. In solutions containing more than 40 mol-% SeO3, the formation of triselenic acid, H2Se3O10, begins, free (SeO3)4 molecules being the successive above 60 mol-% of selenium trioxide. Monomeric SeO3 and tetraselenic acid, however, are not detectable.Pure di- und triselenic acid only exist in the crystalline state. Their crystal spectra exhibit strong crystal field splitting effects. The solid H4Se3O11, showing also CF effects in its spectrum, consists probably of H2SeO4 and H2Se2O7 molecules which are catenated via strong H bonds.
Notes:
Analoge Verhältnisse findet man in geschmolzenem D2SeO4.
