Description:
Protein phosphorylation in cerebral cell-free preparations from neonate rabbits was inhibited by bilirubin and promoted by aminophylline when these substances had been administered intravenously. In animals given both compounds, the bilirubin-induced inhibition of phosphorylation was partly reversed by aminophylline. Adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate added in vitro during the assays also increased protein phosphorylation. These data introduce new concepts in the pathogenesis of kernicterus.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Morphis, L -- Constantopoulos, A -- Matsaniotis, N -- Papaphilis, A -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 1982 Oct 8;218(4568):156-8.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Record origin:〈/span〉 〈a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7123226" target="_blank"〉PubMed〈/a〉
