    Notes: Reveals that the People's Republic of China is a market intransition. The Chinese Government wants to modernize the retailindustry as part of the movement from a planned economy to a marketeconomy. Reports that a series of interviews with managers ofgovernment-owned department stores and co-operatives, free marketretailers and members of the municipal and federal commercial planningcommittees began in 1992. One year later, when a second series ofinterviews was conducted, the retail industry was vastly different.Joint ventures increased and store managers were given the right tochoose their own form of operation. Consumers have experiencedself-service food stores and foreign department stores opened in Beijingand Shanghai. A third set of interviews conducted in March 1995 showedthat many reforms had been rescinded because of high domestic inflation.Several new retail ventures aimed at the nouveaux riches inChina have had to position downwards. Concludes that the People'sRepublic of China's change from a planned to a market economy is alesson in social and market change.

    Notes: Films were prepared on the steel (Q235) by means of vacuum vapor deposition throughAl65Cu20Fe15 quasicrystal powders. Influence of ceria on the microstructure and properties of filmswere studied. TEM, SEM and XRD were used to observe the microstructure and morphology offilms. The hardness and the modulus of the film were tested by MTS. The results showed that thefilms were formed through directly vapor deposited by Al65Cu20Fe15 quasicrystal. The films wereconstituted of many phases such as CuAl2, AlCu3 and I (Al65Cu20Fe15) phase. The composition offilms was decided by the technology of deposition. After adding cerium, the microstructure of filmsdid not radically change, however the hardness and modulus of films varied with the increase ofcerium. When the cerium content was 5 wt%, the hardness of films was more than 9.0 GPa.Furthermore, adding cerium could improve obviously the corrosion resistance of films

    Notes: The rust distribution and the crack expansion in the deteriorated concrete were studied through the macroscopic and microcosmic method. The results show that the corrosion of steel bar in the concrete is non-uniform even though by Galvanostatic Method. The crack appears earlier and expands quicker at the thin concrete cover than others side and the short crack filled by the rust is found near by the steel bar and converges the main crack. The distribution, composition and the developing of the rust at steel-concrete interface were studied by the microscopic methods of BSE, EDAX and Raman Microscope. By these methods, the rust distributes inhomogeneous and the ion element area was divided into zones evidently. From concrete to steel bar, the rust in turn is: initial rust zone, the mixture area of the rust and mortar about 20-50 μm in width and main containing the goethite (FeOOH); the secondary rust zone, high density area of ion element and about 10-20μm in width and being the mixture of hematite(Fe2O3)and magnetite(Fe3O4); the final rust zone, similar as the initial rust and being the mixture of hematite(Fe2O3)and goethite(FeOOH). According to the electrochemistry principle, the forming process of rust does not follow the iron oxidation procedure entirely but form middle production under the special situation of the condition interior concrete and the electric field outside. The extrusion action of concrete around steel bar makes the rust compressed and metamorphic and the secondary rust forming. So the process and the final state of this special corrosion production are the key parameters leading to the deterioration of concrete

    Notes: Abstract The C60-p-tert-butylcalix[8]arene inclusion complex film has been directly formed on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode, and its electrochemical behavior in acetonitrile containing tetra-n-butylammonium hexafluorophosphate as the supporting electrolyte studied. The film has a two-electron reduction wave at −1.0 V (vs Ag/AgCl), but limits to the first cathodic potential scan.

    Notes: Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystals powder was used to prepare the thin films on the surface of the A3steel by the means of DMD-450 vacuum evaporation equipment. The thin films with differentcharacterization were obtained through different parameters. The microstructures of the thin filmswere analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). Additionally,the nano-hardness and the modulus of the films are tested by MTS and Neophot micro-hardnessmeter. The results showed that the modulus of the films was about 160GPa. Nano hardness of thefilms was about 7.5 Gpa. The films consisted of CuAl2, AlCu3. The thickness and the micro-hardnessof the films are improved. In same way, with the increase of the electric current, the thickness and thehardness of the films are also improved. Along with increase of the time and the electric current, thewear behavior of the films was improved. To some extent, the microstructure of films contained thequasicrystal phase of Al65Cu20Fe15

    Notes: Abstract The boundary elament method (BEM) for numerical solution to dynamic response of vibration fundation in plane, elastic domains are presented. The dynamic boundary integral equation is derived from the Laplace integral transform of the elestodynamic differential equation. Numerical solution can then be completed by the discrete boundary element in the transform space. Finally, dynamic responsed in time domain will be inverted back from the transform space with the numerical method. Excited harmonic load responses of dynamic rigid foundation are calculated and discussed for different frequencies, Layer depths and foundation embedments. Again, screening of exciting wave is also studied.

    Notes: Abstract The aim of the present study was to characterize the receptor subtype and the second messenger involved in the newly discovered hypertrophic effect of β-adrenoceptor stimulation in cultures of adult ventricular cardiomyocytes. Cardiomyocytes isolated from adult rats and cultured for 6 days in presence of 20% fetal calf serum (FCS) were used as experimental model. Hypertrophic responsiveness of cardiomyocytes was characterized by rate of protein synthesis, increase in protein mass, and increase in RNA content. The hypertrophic effect of the non-specific β-adrenoceptor agonist isoprenaline was abolished in presence of a specific β1-adrenoceptor antagonist (ICI 118,551), could be mimicked by use of a β2-adrenoceptor agonist (procaterol) or direct stimulation of adenylate cyclase (forskolin) or addition of a cell-permeable analogue of cAMP (dibuytyrylcyclo-AMP). In presence of Rp-cAMPS, an inhibitor of protein kinase A, the hypertrophic effect of isoprenaline was abolished. The results indicate that the hypertrophic effect of β-adrenoceptor stimulation is due to stimulation of β2-adrenoceptors and activation of adenylate cyclase and protein kinase A.

A reversible surface-confined one-electron-transfer electroreduction wave was detected by cyclic voltammetry. The CME displayed electrocatalytic activity to hemoglobin in a 0.10 M KCl solution.

    Notes: The electrochemical behavior of the water-soluble C60-γ-CD (1:1) inclusion complex has been studied on the hanging mercury drop electrode. A one-electron reversible adsorptive electroreduction and three irreversible adsorptive electroreductions were detected by cyclic voltammetry. The amount of C60-γ-CD adsorbed at saturation is 1.73 × 10-11 mol/cm2, the diffusion coefficient is 5.81 × 10-6 cm2/s, and the standard rate constant of the surface reaction ks are 0.888 s-1, 0.853 s-1 and 1.032 s-1, respectively.

    Notes: The first electrodeposition in situ of C70-salt films in a mixed solvent on a microdisk electrode is reported. The deposition conditions of these films were optimized and then the electrochemical behaviors of these films were investigated, displaying three one-electron oxidation peaks with the characteristics of surface reactions. The electron-transfer coefficients (α) of the three surface reactions were also determined.
