Notes: [Auszug] Brain levels of 2-phenylethylamine were determined in rabbits (New Zealand, male, 2-3 kg) using the method of Mosnaim and Inwang15, which measures the ultraviolet absorbance at 287 nm of the reaction product of PEA with eerie sulphate and HC1. For behavioural observation, ten male white Swiss mice ...

Notes: [Auszug] We have attempted to test the cholinergic hypothesis by administering drugs which act specifically on cholinoceptors to rats undergoing withdrawal from morphine. In one study seventeen male Sprague-Dawley rats (initially 100 g) were given morphine sulphate by i.p. injection twice daily; doses were ...

Notes: Abstract In the present work is described the effect of the characteristics of the galvanized coating on corrosion rate of reinforcing bars embedded in a concrete without additives and in another with 2% CaCl2 in terms of cement weight. To this end, the following materials were subjected to the action of a moisture saturated atmosphere for a period of400 days: an annealed-galvanized coating; another one obtained by dipping in a molten Zn bath with0.025% Al and some others produced at450 and430°C in an ordinary bath. The attack evolution vs time was controlled by measuring the polarization resistance. The electrochemical determinations were gravimetrically verified and supplemented by a metallographic examination of tests coatings. In the absence of chlorides, the attack is fully tolerated. Chlorides radically change the corrosion behaviour of galvanized steel and increase the attack by a factor of2.8 in the most favourable case, but in these conditions, coatings with thick, homogeneous η layer outperform the usual ones, and specially the annealed ones.

Notes: Abstract Laser surface treatments are an attractive alternative for the production of new materials with high mechanical and corrosion-resistance properties. This technique permits the production of materials with a high added value on low-cost materials. The present research is aimed at obtaining NiCrAl alloys on iron-based materials using a continuous CO2 laser with 5–7 kW power. The microstructural characteristics and influence of iron on the type of phase in the new alloy is also analysed.

Notes: Abstract The processing and microstructural characteristics of nickel-based superalloys obtained by high-power laser surface cladding were studied. The processing variables were laser power, scan velocity and the composition of the feeder powder. The initial compositions consisted of a mixture of NiCrAl (71/18/11% by weight) and NiCrAl plus zirconium oxide composite (66/16/12/4% by weight). Following the process, the clad layers were characterized using analytical tools such as optical and scanning electron microscopy and thickness, substrate/ coating interface, cracks and their hardness.

Notes: Abstract Composite materials of steel sheets joined by interlayers of zinc or lead- tin, show very good impact and corrosion resistance properties. Resistance spot-weld characteristics of these composite materials made of steel sheets and non-ferrous metals have been tested. Spot welds of composites with both zinc and lead- tin interlayers present good behaviour in peeling tests. Shear tests of the welds also show very high strength, probably as a consequence of simultaneous brazing because of the alloyed layer of non-ferrous material around the weld spot. This good welding behaviour enhances the possibilities of application of this composite.
