    Description: 〈p〉Early Oligocene partial melting and prolonged low-pressure–low-temperature (low-P/T) metamorphism were investigated in migmatites and orthogneisses from the upper High Himalaya Crystalline Sequence (HHCS) in the far east of Nepal. The migmatites were formed by biotite dehydration melting at 〈i〉c.〈/i〉 800°C from 33 to 25 Ma. Cordierite was only produced at shallow crustal levels at pressures c. 27–19 Ma. Pervasive partial melting and prolonged low-P/T metamorphism in the upper HHCS is more compatible with a lateral southwards channel flow of the upper HHCS along the High Himalayan Discontinuity, whereas current channel flow models explaining the exhumation of the HHCS as driven only by the coupled activity of the Main Central Thrust and South Tibetan Detachment have faced difficulties in explaining the timing of the low-P/T metamorphism observed in the upper HHCS.〈/p〉 〈p〉〈b〉Supplementary material:〈/b〉 The representative cordierite compositions from the cordierite migmatites, the far east of Nepal are available at 〈a href="https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.c.4068815"〉https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.c.4068815〈/a〉〈/p〉

    Description: Early Oligocene partial melting and prolonged low-pressure–low-temperature (low-P/T) metamorphism were investigated in migmatites and orthogneisses from the upper High Himalaya Crystalline Sequence (HHCS) in the far east of Nepal. The migmatites were formed by biotite dehydration melting at c. 800°C from 33 to 25 Ma. Cordierite was only produced at shallow crustal levels at pressures 〈6 kbar. After Early Oligocene partial melting, the low-P/T metamorphism continued until 17 Ma during exhumation of the cordierite-bearing migmatites. Early Oligocene biotite dehydration melting in the upper HHCS occurred at different times and locations from the Early Miocene muscovite dehydration melting in the underlying HHCS and the metamorphic discontinuity was accompanied by thrusting of the High Himalayan Discontinuity at c. 27–19 Ma.     Description: A variety of microstructures in Mg/Cu super-laminate composites (SLCs) caused by competitive reactions during hydrogenation has been shown experimentally. Two types of MgCu 2 structures, three-dimensional (3-D) network and layer, were observed after initial hydrogenation of Mg/Cu SLCs under the conditions of 573K, 86.4ks in H 2 of 3-3MPa. It was proposed that Mg/Cu SLCs could be hydrogenated by two kinds of processes. The one is alloying Mg with Cu to form Mg 2 Cu followed by hydrogenation of Mg 2 Cu, leading to the formation of 3-D network of MgCu 2 . The other is hydrogenation of Mg followed by the reaction of MgH 2 to Cu, leading to the formation of layer MgCu 2 .     Description: The relationship between initial hydrogen absorption properties and microstructures of Mg/Cu super-laminate composites (SLCs) with different accumulative roll bonding (ARB) cycles was investigated. Hydrogenation of Mg was dominant in Mg/Cu SLCs with 5 and 10 cycles of ARB, whereas that of Mg 2 Cu was dominant in Mg/Cu SLCs with 20 and 30 cycles of ARB. The growth rate constants did not show a significant difference among Mg/Cu SLCs with different ARB cycles. It is considered that the average thickness of Mg + Cu layers in as-rolled Mg/Cu SLCs as a function of ARB cycles has a large influence on initial hydrogenation properties and microstructure formation processes.

    Description: A third subunit, the gamma chain, of the human interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) was identified, and a complementary DNA clone encoding this member of the cytokine receptor family was isolated. The gamma chain is necessary for the formation of the high- and intermediate-affinity receptors, which consists of alpha beta gamma heterotrimers and beta gamma heterodimers, respectively. The IL-2R on murine fibroblastoid cells can be internalized after binding IL-2 only if the gamma chain is present; alpha and beta are insufficient for internalization.     Description: The gamma chain of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor is shared with the functional IL-4 receptor and is causatively related to X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (XSCID), which is ascribed to a profound T cell defect. Studies with monoclonal antibodies specific for the IL-2 receptor gamma chain showed that the gamma chain participates in the functional high-affinity receptor complexes for IL-7 that are involved in the differentiation of T and B cells.     Description: The gamma chain of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor is an indispensable subunit for IL-2 binding and intracellular signal transduction. A monoclonal antibody to the gamma chain, TUGm2, inhibited IL-2 binding to the functional IL-2 receptors and also inhibited IL-4-induced cell growth and the high-affinity binding of IL-4 to the CTLL-2 mouse T cell line. Another monoclonal antibody, TUGm3, which reacted with the gamma chain cross-linked with IL-2, also immunoprecipitated the gamma chain when cross-linked with IL-4.     Notes: The Nd-Fe-B and Nd-Fe-Co-B magnet powders with the high coercivity (≥10 kOe) were obtained by the hydrogenation-decomposition-desorption-recombination (HDDR) process at temperatures between 800 °C and 900 °C. We studied magnetic properties and microstructures of the Nd-Fe-B systems during the HDDR process. The NdH2 phase produced by decomposition of Nd2Fe14BHx with hydrogenation exists in the maze-like form of the size of 10−1 μm. It was found that the size of the NdH2 phase determines the size of the Nd2Fe14B phase formed by the recombination. NdH2, Fe, and Fe2B are more stable than Nd2Fe14B at temperatures from 800 °C to 900 °C. The magnet powders produced by the HDDR process are magnetically almost isotropic.
