Conclusions 1. Acrolein and methacrolein coordinately bond through the aldehyde group oxygen during adsorption on the surface of cobalt molybdate catalysts modified by Co, V, and Mo ions. 2. The C=C bond of the aldehyde does not participate in the formation of surface compounds with cobalt molybdate. 3. Acrylates and methacrylates are formed in the interaction of acrylic and methacrylic acids with the catalyst surface. 4. Modification of cobalt molybdate with Co, V, and Mo ions changes the strength of surface bonding and affects the catalytic reaction involved in the formation of CO and CO2.
