Abstract: This book introduces “network pharmacology” as an emerging frontier subject of systematic drug research in the era of artificial intelligence and big data. Network Pharmacology is an original subject of fusion system biology, bioinformatics, network science and other related disciplines. It emphasizes on starting from the overall perspective of the system level and biological networks, the analysis of the laws of molecular association between drugs and their treatment objects, reveals the systematic pharmacological mechanisms of drugs, and guides the research and development of new drugs and clinical diagnosis and treatment. After it was proposed, network pharmacology has been paid attention by researchers, and it has been rapidly developed and widely used. In order to systematically reveal the biological basis of diagnosis and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine, we proposed a new concept of "network target" for the first time, which has become the core theory of "network pharmacology". The core principle of a network target is to construct a biological network that can be used to decipher complex diseases. The network is then used as the therapeutic target, to which multicomponent remedies are applied. This book mainly includes four parts: 1) The concept and theory of network pharmacology; 2) Common analysis methods, databases and software in network pharmacological research; 3) Typical cases of traditional Chinese medicine modernization and modern drug research based on network pharmacology; 4) Network pharmacology practice process based on drugs and diseases.

Description: In this work, a closure experiment for tropospheric aerosol is presented. Aerosol size distributions and single scattering albedo from remote sensing data are compared to those measured in-situ. An aerosol pollution event on 4 April 2009 was observed by ground based and airborne lidar and photometer in and around Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen, as well as by DMPS, nephelometer and particle soot absorption photometer at the nearby Zeppelin Mountain Research Station. The presented measurements were conducted in an area of 40 20 km around Ny-Ålesund as part of the 2009 Polar Airborne Measurements and Arctic Regional Climate Model Simulation Project (PAMARCMiP). Aerosol mainly in the accumulation mode was found in the lower troposphere, however, enhanced backscattering was observed up to the tropopause altitude. A comparison of meteorological data available at different locations reveals a stable multi-layer-structure of the lower troposphere. It is followed by the retrieval of optical and microphysical aerosol parameters. Extinction values have been derived using two different methods, and it was found that extinction (especially in the UV) derived from Raman lidar data significantly surpasses the extinction derived from photometer AOD profiles. Airborne lidar data shows volume depolarization values to be less than 2.5% between 500 m and 2.5 km altitude, hence, particles in this range can be assumed to be of spherical shape. In-situ particle number concentrations measured at the Zeppelin Mountain Research Station at 474m altitude peak at about 0.18 mmdiameter, which was also found for the microphysical inversion calculations performed at 850 m and 1500 m altitude. Number concentrations depend on the assumed extinction values, and slightly decrease with altitude as well as the effective particle diameter. A low imaginary part in the derived refractive index suggests weakly absorbing aerosols, which is confirmed by low black carbon concentrations, measured at the Zeppelin Mountain as well as on board the Polar 5 aircraft.

Description: Accurate fine-scale measurements of sea ice thicknesses and of the Arctic troposphere cannot easily be obtained or validated by satellites alone. To get these key data, necessary for better understanding the rapidly changing Arctic, a new project began conducting airborne surveys in 2009; efforts are under way to make the surveys an annual occurrence.

Description: Darwin’s naturalization conundrum describes two seemingly contradictory hypotheses regarding whether alien species closely or distantly related to native species should be more likely to naturalize in regional floras. Both expectations have accumulated empirical support, and whether such apparent inconsistency can be reconciled at the global scale is unclear. Here, using 219,520 native and 9,531 naturalized alien plant species across 487 globally distributed regions, we found a latitudinal gradient in Darwin’s naturalization conundrum. Naturalized alien plant species are more closely related to native species at higher latitudes than they are at lower latitudes, indicating a greater influence of preadaptation in harsher climates. Human landscape modification resulted in even steeper latitudinal clines by selecting aliens distantly related to natives in warmer and drier regions. Our results demonstrate that joint consideration of climatic and anthropogenic conditions is critical to reconciling Darwin’s naturalization conundrum.

Notes: Using Zn thin film as counterelectrode, Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ tunnel junctions were prepared. Temperature-dependent tunneling spectra of these planar junctions provided measurements of energy gap, 2Δ, and transition temperature, Tc. The spectra also allowed the observation of pseudogap in normal state and showed strong evidence of d-wave symmetry of the superconducting order parameter. The present junction may find its way in the electronics applications. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Multiple-cable single borehole anchorages are widely used in China, accepted andregarded as a very effective method for slope protection, landslide remediation and foundation ditchsupport. This paper presents a new method for testing tensional stresses of individual steel strandswithin anchor cables in single boreholes. A rig has been designed to permit testing of cables withina single borehole, including two special features: a metal plate that distributes tension betweenstrands of a cable and a sensing device that measures the stress in each individual strand. Thefeasibility of the method has been demonstrated by an in situ tensional stress test on anchor cablesat a landslide remediation site that successfully measured the forces on individual steel strandsfastened to different anchorage segments within a borehole. The steel cable strands displayed nonlinearextension characteristics; and the length of anchorage segments and grout strength met designcriteria. The results confirm that this design of anchorage is satisfactory and can provide valuabledata for future design and construction

Notes: The Na2SnO3 and H-N-R inhibitors effects on the high active aluminum alloy in alkalinesolution (80[removed info]5mol/LNaOH) have been systematically studied by hydrogen collection andelectrochemical measurement in the present investigation. The results showed that the hydrogenevolution rate was low at the value of 0.404 mL/ (min·cm2) in alkaline solution with 0.01mol/LNa2SnO3, but the electrode potential was only -1.515V[removed info]vs.SCE[removed info] and it moved to the positivedirection seriously; When adding 10wt[removed info]H-N-R and 0.01mol/LNa2SnO3 into the alkaline solutionsimultaneously, the aluminum alloy anode had a lower hydrogen evolution rate of 0.342mL/ (min·cm2)and a more negative electrode potential of -1.591V[removed info]vs.SCE[removed info]. The electrochemical performance ofaluminum alloy anode has been improved greatly by the cooperation of H-N-R and Na2SnO3
