Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Abstract Instrumental neutron activation analysis combined with Ge(Li) γ-ray spectrometry has been used to determine the concentrations of 22 elements in marble from Carrara. The material is shown to be suitable as a comperative multielement standard for the analysis of samples with low concentrations of the elements concerned. Analytical results obtained for 23 elements in the standard reference material limestone KH (distributed by the ZGI) are also given. To correct pile-up errors in measurements of short-lived radionuclides having high starting activities a numerical method was introduced. A comparison with the pulser-timing procedure has been carried out for the analysis of aluminium. Consistent results were obtained by both methods.
