Notes: Abstract The hexakis(methylamine) complexes of nickel(II)-chloride, -bromide and -iodide have been prepared using-gas phase preparation procedure. The thermal decomposition starts with the release of four moles of the organic ligand. The bis(methylamine) intermediate decomposes in one step to the pure nickel(II) halide in the case of the chloride compound, however one and a half moles of methylamine containing intermediates were identified for the bromide and iodide analogues. The UV/VIS and the far IR spectra of the hexakis complexes show a typical octahedral environment around the central nickel(II) ion.

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Eine Reihe von Komplexen wurde aus den Halogeniden von Cobalt(II), Nickel(II), Kupfer(II) und 2-, 3-, 4-äthylpyridin hergestellt.
Notes: Abstract A series of complexes has been prepared with the halides of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and 2-,3-,4-ethylpyridine. The compounds were essentially all octahedral with the exception of those formed between 2-ethylpyridine and the cobalt(II) halides. The stereochemical configurations were deduced using spectral and magnetic properties. The decomposition of the complexes was studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis.

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Einige Komplexe der Chloride und Bromide von Mangan(II), Eisen(II), Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) und Kupfer(II) mit Nikotinamid und NikotinsÄure wurden hergestellt.
Notes: Abstract Some complexes of the chlorides and bromides of manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) with nicotinamide and nicotinic acid have been prepared. These complexes have stoichiometryML 2X2 whereM is a metal ion,L is an organic ligand andX is a halide ion. Spectral and magnetic properties indicate that these compounds have octahedral polymeric structures. The decomposition of the complexes was studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. In only one instance was a decomposition product of the formulaMLX2 obtained. Its structure was also octahedral.

Notes: Abstract The chloro compound of 3-hydroxy-2-quinoxalinecarboxylic acid with nickel(II) has been prepared in ethanolic solution from which a solid compound was isolated. Spectral and magnetic measurements show that the nickel ions are in an octahedral environment. Thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis and electrical conductivity data are reported for 3-hydroxy-2-quinoxalinecarboxylic acid and its nickel complex. The conductivity measurements indicate that electron/hole traps are emptied during heating of the complex but repopulation occurs in about 24 h at room temperature.

Description: Stratigraphic and subtle combination traps have a well-documented track record as significant producing hydrocarbon resources. The majority of these success cases come from onshore USA where unprecedented drilling densities combined with a long history of hydrocarbon exploration provide a large portfolio of stratigraphic and subtle combination traps. By comparing USA-based examples with other global cases it is evident that numerous basins still have the potential for exploration success associated with these traps. This paper attempts to raise the awareness of the exploration potential of stratigraphic and subtle combination traps through four approaches. Firstly, a summary of key global statistics related to stratigraphic and subtle combination traps is provided with the intention of demonstrating that they have historically represented a key hydrocarbon resource. Secondly, a classification scheme is introduced and acts as a reference for the observations and case studies presented. The third component of this paper is to present a range of case studies, which serve to demonstrate the exploration history behind successful discoveries associated with stratigraphic and subtle combination traps. The final component is to consider the general exploration history and from this long experience highlight the key techniques necessary for the development of a successful exploration strategy.

Description: 〈p〉The river Nile flows across 11 African countries, supporting millions of human livelihoods, and holding globally important biodiversity and endemism yet remains underprotected. No basin-wide spatial conservation planning has been attempted to date, and the importance of coordinated conservation planning for the Nile’s biodiversity remains unknown. We address these gaps by creating a basin-wide conservation plan for the Nile’s freshwater fish. We identify priority areas for conservation action and compare cross-boundary collaboration scenarios for achieving biodiversity conservation targets, accounting for river connectivity. We found that collaborative conservation efforts are crucial for reducing conservation costs, saving 34% of costs compared to an uncoordinated, business-as-usual scenario. While most Nile basin countries benefit from coordinating conservation planning, costs and benefits are unequally distributed. We identify "hot spots" consistently selected as conservation priority areas across all collaboration scenarios, and provide a framework for improving return on conservation investment for large and complex river systems globally.〈/p〉
