    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die pseudobinären Systeme ACl/CeCl3 (A=Na-Cs) wurden mittels Differenzthermoanalyse (DTA) neu untersucht. Folgende Verbindungen wurden gefunden und durch ihre Röntgenbeugungsmuster charakterisiert (erstmalig nachgewiesene Verbindungen sind kursiv):NaCe 1.67 Cl 6; K3CeCl6, K2CeCl5,KCe 1.67 Cl 6;Rb 3 CeCl 6, Rb2CeCl5,RbCe 2 Cl 7; Cs3CeCl6, Cs2CeCl5,CsCe 2 Cl 7. Die Verbindungen A2CeCl5 kristallisieren im K2PrCl5-Typ. Die Hochtemperaturmodifikationen der Verbindungen A3CeCl6 liegen in der kubischen Elpasolith-Struktur vor. Die hexagonale Elementarzelle des KCe1.67Cl6 ist mit der CeCl3-Struktur verwandt: 0,33 Ce3+ sind durch ein K+ ersetzt. Die Struktur des CsCe2Cl7 kann mit einer hexagonalen Pseudozelle beschrieben werden:a=9,72;c=14,94Å;Z=4; schwache Überstrukturreflexe reduzieren jedoch die Symmetrie. Die thermodynamischen Funktionen für die Reaktionen:n ACl + CeCl3=A n CeCl n+3 (A=K, Rb) wurden durch EMK-Messungen bestimmt. Messungen der Abhängigkeit von e. m. f.E gegenT ergaben die Gibbs-EnthalpienΔG r . Es wurde eine lineare Temperaturabhängigkeit gefunden. Als wichtigstes Resultat ist die Bildung von Elpasoliten (A3CeCl6) und von Verbindungen (ACe2Cl7) anzusehen.
    Abstract: Резюме С помощью ДТА вновь ис следованы псевдобинарные сист емы ACl/CeCl3, где A рад щелочных металлов от натрия до цезия. Рентгено-структурны м анализом идентифицированы сл едующие соединения (в первые идентифицированные соединения подчеркнуты):NaCe 1.67 Cl 6; K3CeCl6, K2CeCl5,KCe 1.67 Cl 6;Rb 3 CeCl 6, Rb2CeCl5,RbCe 2 Cl 7; Cs3CeCl6, Cs2CeCl5 иCsCe 2Cl7. Соединения A2CeCl5 кристаллизуютсясо с труктурой K2PrCl5. Высокотемпературны е модификации соедин ений A3CeCl6 имеют кубическую с труктуру элпасолита. Элемента рная ячейка гексагон альной решетки KCe1.67Cl6 имеет стру ктуру CeCl3, в которой 0,33 Ce3+ иона замещ ены одним ионом калия. Структура CsCe2Cl7 может бы ть описана гексагональной подр ешеткой с параметрам и ячейкиa=9,72 Å,c=14,94 Å иZ=4. Однако, небольшие сверхстру ктурные рефлексии по нижают симметрию. Термодина мические функции реакцийn ACl + CeCl3=A n CeCl n+3(A=K, Rb) был и определены с помощью измерений э. д. с. Измерения э. д. с.E показ али линейную зависим ость от температуры, давая зн ачения энтальпии ГиббсаΔG r . Важным резу льтатом проведенног о исследования являет ся доказательство образования элпасол итов и ACe2Cl7.
    Notes: Abstract The pseudobinary systems ACl/CeCl3 (A=Na-Cs) were reinvestigated by means of DTA. The following compounds were found and identified through their X-ray patterns (primarily detected compounds in italics):NaCe 1.67 Cl 6; K3CeCl6, K2CeCl5,KCe 1.67 Cl 6;Rb 3 CeCl 6, Rb2CeCl5,RbCe 2 Cl 7; Cs3CeCl6, Cs2CeCl5,CsCe 2 Cl 7. The compounds A2CeCl5 crystallize with the K2PrCl5 structure. The high-temperature modifications of the compounds A3CeCl6 have the cubic elpasolite structure. The hexagonal unit cell of KCe1.67Cl6 is related to the CeCl3 structure: 0.33 Ce3+ are substituted by one Ks+. The structure of CsCe2Cl7 can be described with a hexagonal subcellZ=4,a=9.72 andc=14.94 Å; however, small superstructure reflexions reduce the symmetry. The thermodynamic functions for the reactionsnACl+CeCl3=A n CeCl n+3(A=K, Rb) were determined by means of e.m.f. measurements. Measurements of the e.m.f.E vs. T yielded the Gibbs enthalpiesΔG r . The temperature-dependence was found to be linear. The most important result is the formation of the elpasolites (A3CeCl6) and ACe2Cl7.

    Notes: Abstract The phase diagrams of ACl/MoCl3 (A=Na, K, Rb, Cs) were elucidated by DTA measurements in sealed quartz ampoules in the range of 0–40 mol% MoCl3. The samples were prepared from alkali metal chlorides and the compounds A3MoCl6 or A3Mo2Cl9. The 3∶1 compounds withA=Na, Rb, Cs were obtained by sintering mixtures of 3ACl+MoCl3; the enneachlorides A3Mo2Cl9 withA=K, Rb, Cs were precipitated from solutions of MoCl3·3H2O and ACl in formic acid. Congruently melting compounds A3MoCl6 exist in all four systems, incongruently melting enneachlorides A3Mo2Cl9 in systems withA=K, Rb, Cs. Still unknown structures were determined by analog-indexing powder patterns according to known structure families. Especially Cs3MoCl6 is isotypic with the recently found Cs3CrCl6 structure. Additionally, the unit cell parameters were determined for the compounds A3MoCl5·H2O (A=K, Rb, Cs) analogous to Cs2TiCl5·H2O, whose structure was determined by single crystal measurements.

    Description / Table of Contents: Résumé On a étudié les systèmes TlX/MnX2 et AgX/MnX2 (X=Cl, Be, I) par analyse thermique différentielle. Les systèmes AgCl/MnCl2 et AgI/MnI2 donnent des eutectiques. AgBr et MnBr2 forment, à des températures plus élevées, des cristaux partiellement mixtes. On observe la formation de composés dans les systèmes d'halogénures de thallium. La fusion est congruente pour TlMnCl3 et Tl4MnI6, incongruente pour TlMnBr3 et TlMnI3. Ces deux derniers composés cristallisent dans le système orthorhombique type NH4CdCl3.
    Abstract: Zusammenfassung Die Systeme TlX/MnX2 und AgX/MnX2 (X=Cl, Br, J) wurden mittels der Differentialthermoanalyse untersucht. Die Systeme AgCl/MnCl2 und AgJ/MnJ2 sind rein eutektisch. AgBr bildet bei höherer Temperatur mit bis zu 20 Mol- % MnBr2 Mischkristalle. In den Systemen mit Thalliumhalogeniden existieren Verbindungen. TlMnCl3 und Tl4MnJ6 schmelzen kongruent, TlMnBr3 und TlMnJ3 inkongruent. Die beiden letztgenannten Verbindungen kristallisieren orthorhombisch im NH4CdCl3-Typ.
    Notes: Abstract The systems TlX/MnX2 and AgX/MnX2 (X=Cl, Br, I) were investigated by means of differential thermal analysis. The systems AgCl/MnCl2 and Agl/MnI2 are purely eutectic. AgBr and MnBr form partially mixed crystals at higher temperature. In the systems with the thallous halides compounds are formed. TlMnCl3 and Tl4MnI6 melt congruently, TlMnBr3 and TlMnI3 incongruently. The latter two crystallize in the orthorhombic NH4CdCl3-type

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Mit galvanischen Zellen des Typs (C+Cl2)/NaCl(s)/MCl2(s)/(C+Cl2) lassen sich oberhalb 280° EMK's messen, die auf der Bildung ternärer Chloride NanMCln+2 beruhen. Durch die Änderung der Steigung kontinuierlich gemessener EMK- gegen T-Kurven lassen sich in Systemen NaCl/MCl2 die Temperaturen von Festkörperreaktionen nachweisen. Diese Methode wurde auf die Systeme des NaCl mit NiCl2, CoCl2 und CdCl2 sowie auf das System KCl-NiCl2 angewendet. Alle Phasendiagramme, mit Ausnahme des Systems NaCl-NiCl2, mußten auf Grund dieser Messungen revidiert werden.
    Abstract: Резюме Гальванические ячей ки типа (C+Cl2)/NaClтв./MCl2тв./(C +Cl2) выше 280 °C показали э. д. с, которая возникает врезультатеобразов ания тройных хлоридо в NanMCln+2. На основе изменения н аклона кривой на граф ике э. д. с температура, были опр еделены температуры твердот ельных реакций в сист емах NaCl-MCl2. Метод был применен дл я систем NaCl с NiCl2, CoCl2, CdCl2 и для си стемы KCl-NiCl2. За исключением системы NaCl-NiCl2,вce другие фазовые ди агр ммы должны быть исправлены.
    Notes: Abstract Galvanic cells of the type (C+Cl2)(NaCl(s))(MCl2(s))(C+Cl2) give e. m. f. 's above 280°, which are due to the formation of ternary chlorides NanMCln+2. By the change in slope of continuously measured e.m.f.vs. T curves, the temperatures of solid-state reactions in systems NaCl-MCl2 can be found. This method was applied for the systems of NaCl with NiCl2, CoCl2 and CdCl2, and for KCl-NiCl2. With the exception of the system NaCl-NiCl2, all phase diagrams must be corrected.
