Description: The Internet of Things (IoT) has attracted much attention from society, industry and academia as a promising technology that can enhance day to day activities, and the creation of new business models, products and services, and serve as a broad source of research topics and ideas. A future digital society is envisioned, composed of numerous wireless connected sensors and devices. Driven by huge demand, the massive IoT (mIoT) or massive machine type communication (mMTC) has been identified as one of the three main communication scenarios for 5G. In addition to connectivity, computing and storage and data management are also long-standing issues for low-cost devices and sensors. The book is a collection of outstanding technical research and industrial papers covering new research results, with a wide range of features within the 5G-and-beyond framework. It provides a range of discussions of the major research challenges and achievements within this topic.

Description: Author(s): Yu-Qing Zhang, Lei Tan, and Peter Barker The transmission spectrum of two dipole-coupled atoms interacting with a single-mode optical cavity in the strong coupling regime is investigated theoretically for the lower and higher excitation cases. The dressed states containing the dipole-dipole interaction (DDI) are obtained by transforming th... [Phys. Rev. A 89, 043838] Published Wed Apr 23, 2014

Description: Author(s): Jun Wen, Jian-Qi Zhang, Lei-Lei Yan, Liang Chen, Xiao-Ming Cai, and Mang Feng Trapped ions offer an excellent platform to investigate fascinating phenomena in quantum physics. Here we propose an experimental scheme to achieve Anderson localization of phonons using an ion chain under irradiation of a laser Bessel beam. The quasiperiodicity comes from the characteristic of the ... [Phys. Rev. A 98, 013829] Published Mon Jul 16, 2018

Description: Author(s): Huajin Chen, Qian Ye, Yiwen Zhang, Lei Shi, Shiyang Liu, Zi Jian, and Zhifang Lin We demonstrate a reconfigurable lateral optical force (OF) on a plasmonic nanoparticle immersed in a simple optical field invariant along the lateral direction and formed by two interfering plane waves. This lateral OF is shown, from the multipolar expansion technique, attributed to several coupling... [Phys. Rev. A 96, 023809] Published Fri Aug 04, 2017

Description: Author(s): Yi Zhang, Lei Zhang, and Yong-Yuan Zhu In this paper we theoretically show that counterpart photonic Cooper pairs can be achieved in nanoscale waveguides with radiation pressure effect. We demonstrate that due to Brillouin scattering a Stokes photon and an anti-Stokes one can exchange virtual phonons, leading to an effective photon-photo... [Phys. Rev.
