Summary C. Mayr's andF. Feigl's microanalytical method of determination has been taken as a model for elaborating a corresponding micro procedure for the determination of cobalt by means ofα-nitroso-β-naphthol. This method is based on the inner complex salt of trivalent cobalt, of theoretical composition. It has been tried to effect a separation of nickel, zinc or aluminium, such as can be performed in the macro procedure. Although those experiments did not yield results of desirable accuracy it may be supposed that the approximation towards the correct value, which can be attained with the separation of cobalt and nickel, will be sufficient for normal rock analyses.
