Notes: Abstract A new method for the determination of hemoglobin (Hb) is described. It is based on the amplification of the Hb enzyme-catalyzed reaction between O-phenyldiamine (OPD) and H2O2 and polarographic measurement of the enzyme-generated product 2,2′-diaminoazobenzene (DAA). A linear calibration plot has been obtained within the range of 1∼20 μg/ml (r = 0.987) Hb. The assay is performed on the microtitre plate to avoid the influence of serum protein and to obtain good reproducibility. The method is practical, reliable and convenient, and has been applied to determine Hb in plasma and serum.

Notes: Abstract A secretory high-level expression cloning vector designated as pSBC-20 was constructed by inserting a DNA fragment encoding the signal peptide of ompA protein into pBV 220 vector. Any foreign DNA fragment can be inserted into the polylinker cloning sites located after the secretion signal sequence. The cloned foreign gene is under the control of the P R -P L promoter while the expression of the gene is regulated by the cI-gene product. The products are secreted into the periplasmic space of bacteria or into the medium. A recombinant plasmid (pRSD-220) was constructed by inserting the 210 bp from RSD-2, a cDNA encoding a peptide fragment of human sperm protein, into the EcoRI site of pSBC-20. TheE. coli cells transformed with pRSD-220 were propagated at 30 °C, then incubated at 42 °C for several hrs. The cloned gene product was secreted into the culture medium at a high rate. The yield was about 60 mg of gene product per liter of cultured medium.

Notes: Abstract The basic concepts, normal forms and universal unfoldings of Zn-equivariant singularity are investigated in the present paper. As an example, the normal forms and universal unfoldings of Zs-singularity are formulated. As a matter of fact, the theory provides a useful tool to study the subharmonic resonance bifurcation of the periodic parameter-excited system.

Notes: Abstract An experimental method of establishing formulas for calculating brightness temperature of extended targets at mm wave frequency is introduced in this paper. The formulas are obtained through the statistic process of a large amount of measured data. The formulas for concrete road, asphalt road, and crushed stone are presented, which are established by this method.

Notes: Abstract This paper discusses the theory foundation of an engineering practical method for measuring the microwave radiation characteristic of metal target— —scaling shrunk simulation measuring method. The scatter theory was managed to analyze and compute the microwave radiation characteristic of metal target. And the actual measurement shows the method is feasible.

Notes: Abstract Based on the transmission-line theory, this paper describes a new procedure to calculate the radiation from layered media with nonuniform temperature profile. The result is compared with those obtained through the incoherent method and the analysis of the electromagnetic fields.

Notes: Abstract A hot calibration load whose temperature is measured and controlled is described, and the measurement method of the microwave absorber reflectivity is also mentioned. In the end, two mathematical models are provided. The numerical results show obviously that the brightness temperature is the function of the angle of view, the contribution of the insulation layer can not be neglected.

Notes: Abstract 1.In order to investigate the biological function of the human CLN3 gene that is defective in Batten disease, we created a yeast strain by PCR-targeted disruption of the yeast gene (YHC3), which is a homologue of the human CLN3 gene. 2.The phenotypic characterization revealed that the yhc3Δ mutants are more sensitive to combined heat and alkaline stress than the wild-type strains as determined by inhibition of cell proliferation. 3.This suggests that the yhc3Δ mutant is a good model to investigate the biological function of human CLN3 gene in mammalian cells and to understand the pathophysiology of juvenile Batten disease.

Notes: Abstract We employ fundamental equations of non-homogeneous elasticity and Fourier integral transformations to obtain the general solutions of the stress function. On the basis of these points of view and when the forces on the boundary are arbitrary for non-homogeneous half-plane problems with the Young’s modulus E(x)=E0exp[βx], accurate solutions are obtained. At last with the degeneracy it is obtained that the famous Boussnesq solution and this method is successful.

Notes: Abstract A quasi-wavelet based numerical method was introduced for solving the evolution of the solutions of nonlinear paritial differential Burgers' equations. The quasi wavelet based numerical method was used to discrete the spatial derivatives, while the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method was adopted to deal with the temporal discretization. The calculations were conducted at a variety of Reynolds numbers ranging from 10 to unlimited large. The comparisons of present results with analytical solutions show that the quasi wavelet based numerical method has distinctive local property, and is efficient and robust for numerically solving Burgers' equations.
