    Notizen: Abstract Adventitious root formation in excised cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cotyledons was significantly promoted by (±)-cis-chrysanthemic acid at 0.006–1.8 mM. The effect of (±)-cis-chrysanthemic acid on indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)-induced rooting was additive. Rooting in excised cucumber cotyledons was significantly promoted by several isomers of chrysanthemic acid and sodium (±)-cis-chrysanthemate at 0.18 mM. Rooting in mung bean (Phaseolus radiatus L.) hypocotyls was also stimulated by the sodium salt at 0.06–0.6 mM. Rooting of kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) hypocotyls was also clearly enhanced by sodium (±)-cis-chrysanthemate at 0.18–6 mM.

    Notizen: Abstract We consider the decay of a heavy top quark into a charged Higgs scalar and a hard photon (gluon)t→H + bγ(g). We give the general result for fermions of arbitrary mass. Our results for the differential decay rate for these two processes are remarkably simple. The radiation amplitude zero (RAZ) factorization is explicit but there is no RAZ for these processes because of the presence of opposite-sign charges. We obtain a branching ratio of 0.063% for bH+γ and 5.6% for bH+g. Thus both decays should be relatively easy to see at the SSC.

    Notizen: Abstract Nitrogen adsorption isotherms for fluorinated activated carbon fiber (F-ACF) and fluorinated carbon black (F-CB) were measured at 77 K. Surface structures of F-ACF and F-CB were examined by α s -plot analysis using the adsorption data on the nonporous carbon black (CB) and F-CB. The surface energy of F-ACF was lower than that of ACF. The micropore structure of ACF was preserved even after fluorination, although the limiting adsorption amount and the micropore width decreased with fluorination.

    Notizen: Abstract The high-spin states in197Bi have been studied with the187Re(16O, 6n)197Bi reaction at16O energies between 85 and 105 MeV. In-beam measurements ofγ-ray excitation functions,γ-γ-t coincidences and γray angular distributions were carried out with 6 BGO(AC) HPGe detectors and one intrinsic Ge planar detector. 11 new transitions and 3 new isomers at 2089, 2357 and 1968+Δ keV with t1/2 =19.3±4.9, 53.4±20.5 and 18.0±3.1 ns., respectively, were observed, and a level scheme is established. Some differences between the present work and the previous results were found.

    Notizen: Abstract A rotational band of160Lu was identified for the first time through the144Sm(19F,3n)160Lu reaction with a beam energy of 90 MeV. A γ-γ-BGO coincidence experiment was performed using five HpGe-BGO Compton-Suppressed spectrometers and a 14 elements ball of BGO detectors. The highest spin of the band with π9/2−[514]⊗v1/2+[660] could be pushed up to 21−, and it shows the feature of an anomalous signature splitting.

    Notizen: Abstract High spin states of117Xe have been investigated by means of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using the reaction92Mo(28Si, 2pn) at beam energies of 100 to 120 MeV. The previously known νh11/2 bands are confirmed and the νg7/2 favored-signature band is extended up to 47/2+, in which two band crossings are observed at ħω=0.33 and 0.44 MeV, respectively. Two new positive-parity bands have been established, one of which is most likely the νg7/2 unfavored-signature band. A new transition cascade with irregular level spacings is also observed.

Several high-spin states of156Tm were identified and the highest spin of the band with configurationπ7/2−[523] ⊗v1/2+[660] could be built up to spin 25ħ. The level structure shows the onset of a non- or weak collectivity which generally appears at neutron number of 87 in neutron-deficient rare-earth nuclei.

    Notizen: Abstract The pion production cross section in nucleus-nucleus collisions at aboutE lab/A=1 GeV is calculated within the relativistic (RQMD) and the nonrelativistic quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) approach. We use both soft and hard equations of state (EOS) with and without the momentum dependence in the interaction. For the nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section, isospin-dependent Cugnon parameterization and BruecknerG-matrix ones are utilized. A parameterized cross section is used for pion production in baryon-baryon collisions. The reabsorption of pions in the nuclear medium is taken into account in an empirical way. A detailed comparison is made between the pion production cross sections obtained in RQMD and QMD, with soft and hard EOS, with and without the momentum dependence in the in-medium NN interaction, with different NN cross sections and with different pion mean free paths. The agreement between the theoretical results and available experimental data is encouraging, although no definite and systematical evidence is found concerning the incompressibility of nuclear matter and the significance of a fully Lorentz covariant treatment of heavy-ion collisions at present energy domain.

    Notizen: Abstract: The transport properties of the La1-xCaxMnO3 ( 0.5 ? x 〈 1) system in magnetic fields up to 14 T were studied. We found that the relationship between the charge ordering temperature T CO and Mn4+ content n Mn4 + obeys the formula T CO / T max = 1 - a ( n Mn4 + - n 0 ) 2 , here n0 and a are constants and T max is the maximum of T CO . For x = 0.65, T CO arrives at the maximum value of 249.5 K in zero magnetic field, while the charge ordered (CO) state is most stable around x = 0.75. For x = 0.5 when H 〈 6 T the resistivity displays Mott's variable-range hopping (VRH) behavior, when 6 〈 H 〈 12 T it is suggested that two kinds of conduction mechanism, i.e., VRH and magnetic polarons, coexist in the material, and when H 〉 12 T the resistivity shows metallic-like behavior and the transport mechanism is attributed to coexistence of magnetic polarons and free carriers. For x = 0.95, the conduction mechanism accords with the coexistence of VRH and magnetic polarons.

    Notizen: Summary An improved method for the determination of nucleic acid content in edible mushrooms is described. Details of tissue homogenization and extraction are also included. In regard to the limit suggested by the Protein Advisory Group of the United Nations System, the amount of nucleic acids found in Agaricus bisporus, Pleurotus cystidiosus, Pleurotus sajor-caju and Volvariella volvacea indicates that it is safe to consume mushrooms as daily vegetable. No significant changes have been found in the nucleic acid content of V. volvacea at different degrees of maturity. V. volvacea loses around 20% of its nucleic acids upon boiling for 10 min. Possible reasons for the discrepancy between the present finding and that given in an earlier report have been discussed.
