    Description / Table of Contents: The isocyanatocarbonyl chlorides 1a-m were prepared and converted to the corresponding isocyanatoketenes 2a-m by means of hydrogen chloride elimination with triethylamine. (Isocyanatoalkyl)ketenes with less then three carbon atoms between the functional groups yield crosslinked and oligomeric products, respectively, by intermolecular reaction of the different heterocumulene systems. (ö-Isocyanatoalkyl)aldoketenes with three and more carbon atoms between the functional groups (2d-h) stabilize uniformly by [2 + 2]-cycloaddition of the ketene groups to yield 3-(ö-isocyanatoalkyl)-4-(ö-isocyanatoalkylidene)-2-oxetanones (3d-h) (diisocyanatodiketenes). (4-Isocyanatophenyl)ketene (21) and (3-isocyanato-1,5-pentanediyl)ketene (2k) stabilize in analogy to the unsubstituted parent compounds to give 6l and 4k, respectively.
    Notes: Die Isocyanatocarbonsäurechloride 1a-m wurden durch Chlorwasserstoff-Abspaltung mit Hilfe von Triethylamin in die entsprechenden Isocyanatoketene 2a-m übergeführt und ihre Stabilisierungsprodukte untersucht. (Isocyanatoalkyl)ketene mit weniger als drei Kohlenstoffatomen zwischen den funktionellen Gruppen reagieren unter Bildung vernetzter bzw. oligomerer Produkte infolge intermolekularer Reaktion der beiden kumulierten Doppelbindungssysteme. (ö-Isocyanatoalkyl)aldoketene mit drei und mehr Kohlenstoffatomen zwischen den funktionellen Gruppen (2d-h) stabilisieren sich ausschließlich durch [2 + 2]-Cycloaddition der Ketengruppen unter Ausbildung von 3-(ö-Isocyanatoalkyl)-4-(ö-isocyanatoalkyliden)-2-oxetanonen (3d-h) (Diisocyanatodiketenen mit ß-Lactonstruktur). (4-Isocyanatophenyl)keten (21) und (3-Isocyanato-1,5-pentandiyl)keten (2k) stabilisieren sich, wie von den isocyanatfreien Verbindungen bekannt, zum Cyclobutenolon 61 bzw. 1,3-Cyclobutandion 4k.

    Notes: Pflanzen produzieren ihre Farbenpracht, sei es die überschwengliche der Blüten und des Herbstlaubes oder nur das alltägliche Grün der Blätter, im wesentlichen durch zwei deutlich verschiedene Formen der Pigmentierung. In beiden Fällen sind Organelle, membranbegrenzte Strukturen innerhalb der Zellen, die Träger der Pigmente. Handelt es sich bei diesen Farbstoffen um fettlösliche Verbindungen, dann lagern sie in den Plastiden, sind sie wasserlöslich, findet man sie in den Vakuolen. Nur bei Algen kommen lipochrome Pigmente auch außerhalb der Plastiden vor. Es sind also entweder zahlreiche kleinere Strukturen (Plastiden) oder eine, selten mehrere, größere (Vakuole), die der Zelle, und damit oft einem ganzen Gewebe, die Farbe verleihen (Abbildung 1).

Phosphane Sulfur Dioxide Nickel (0) and Palladium (0) ComplexesSynthesis and properties of phosphane sulfur dioxid d10-metal complexes of the types ML2(SO2)2, ML2(SO2), and ML3(SO2) (M = Ni(0), Pd(0); L = t-phosphane) are described. In dependence on the phosphane coligands nickel(0) complexes with η1-planar, η1-pyramidal and η2-S.O. (side on) coordinated SO2 are formed. In the case of the palladium(0)-SO2 complexes hithero prepared the dominating coordination mode is the η1-pyramidal one.
    Notes: Synthese und Eigenschaften von Phosphan-Schwefeldioxid-d10-Metallkomplexen der Typen ML2(SO2)2, ML2(SO2) und ML3(SO2) (M = Ni(0), Pd(0); L = t-Phosphan) werden beschrieben. In Abhängigkeit der Phosphan-Coliganden entstehen Nickel(0)-SO2-Komplexe mit η1-planar, η1-pyramidal und η2-S.O (side on) koordiniertem SO2. Dagegen dominiert im Falle der bislang dargestellten Palladium(0)-SO2-Komplexe die η1-pyramidale Koordinationsgeometrie.

    Notes: Diptericin A is a member of a multigenic family of antibacterial peptides that are synthesized by larvae of Phormia terranovae (Diptera) in response to a bacterial injection or to injury. The 82-residue peptide is active only against a limited range of Gram-negative bacteria. Data presented suggest that the primary action of diptericin A is on the cytoplasmic membrane of growing bacteria.

    Notes: Molecular orbital calculations of the extended Hückel type have been used to study the conformations of glycyl and alanyl residues in ground and excited states. The ground-state surfaces show features similar to those obtained with the standard calculational methods in which the total energy is partitioned into components such as torsions, nonbonded and electrostatic interactions. The molecular orbital calculations provide the first independent theoretical check on such calculations. The excited-state surfaces, Uniquely available from the molecular orbital calculations, exhibit a better definition and sharpening of potential minima in the sterically allowed regions.

    Description / Table of Contents: Eine Reihe von Benzylthiolaniumsalzen wurde präpariert, charakterisiert und mittels DSC-Messungen und Verfolgung des Viskositätsanstiegs hinsichtlich der Brauchbarkeit fur die thermische Härtung von Epoxidharzsystemen evaluiert. Es ergab sich uber einen weiten Bereich der Hammett-Konstanten eine Korrelation zwischen Startaktivität, Lagerstabilität und elektronischen Substituenteneinflüssen an der Benzylgruppe. Durch Kombination mit Arylsulfoniumsalzen erhält man in Einzelfällen Dual Cure Systeme mit attraktiven Eigenschaften sowohl für die thermische als auch für die UV-induzierte Härtung. Auch eine Sensibilisierung von Benzylthiolaniumsalzen erwies sich als gangbarer Weg zu Dual Cure Systemen. Somit eröffnen sich neue Einsatzmöglichkeiten für UV-härtbare Epoxidharzsysteme in der Elektronik, bei denen eine zusätzliche Härtung in abgeschatteten Bereichen unabdingbar ist.
    Notes: A number of benzylthiolanium salts have been synthesized, analysed and evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry and viscosity measurements with respect to their potential use as thermal curing agents for epoxy resins. Over a wide range of Hammett constants a correlation exists between initial reactivity, shelf life and the electronic substituent effects of the benzyl group. A combination with arylsulfonium salts leads in singular cases to dual cure systems with attractive properties of thermal and UV induced curing. The sensitization of benzylthiolanium salts also leads to dual cure systems. This opens up new possibilities for UV curable epoxy resins in electronic applications requiring additional curing in shaded areas.
