Description / Table of Contents: AsF5 reacts with KOCH3 in trichlorotrifluoroethane yielding K[AsF6] and a new compound to which - according to its electrolytic conductivity in AsF3 solution and its hydrolytic behaviour - the structure [AsF2(OCH3)2][AsF6] is assigned.

Description / Table of Contents: The thermal decomposition of K[AsF4(OH)2] yields under evolution of HF irregularly condensed reaction products. The HF reacts partly with the starting compound according to the abovementioned equations. Both K[AsF4(OH)2] and K[AsF5(OH)] give on heating with methanol the compound K[AsF4(OCH3)2] which is more stable against hydrolysis than the OH compounds.K[AsF4(OC2H5)2] could not be prepared in the pure state.
