    Description / Table of Contents: Model Investigations on the Mechanism of the Osazone Reaction, Iα-Anilinodeoxybenzoin (4c) reacts with molar quantities of phenylhydrazine to yield benzil monophenylhydrazone (7). The formation of 7 can only be understood if 4c tautomerises to the en-aminol 8 which gives rise to reanimation with phenylhydrazine to 9. After intramolecular oxidoreduction to the ketimine 10 the imine reacts to 7 and benzoin osazone 5, respectively.
    Notes: α-Anilinodesoxybenzoin (4c) reagiert mit molaren Mengen Phenylhydrazin neben weiteren Produkten zu Benzil-monophenylhydrazon (7). Die Bildung von 7 ist nur verständlich, wenn Tautomerisierung von 4c Zum En-aminol 8, Umaminierung mit Phenylhydrazin zu 9 und intramolekulare Oxidoreduktion zum Ketimin 10 erfolgt. 10 reagiert zu 7 bzw. mit weiterem Phenylhydrazin zum Benzoinosazon 5.

    Description / Table of Contents: Model Investigations on the Mechanism of the Osazone Reaction, II2,3-Dihydroxy-3-phenyl- (1) and 2-hydroxy 3-phenylpropanal (13a) behave completely different against derivatives of hydrazine. Whilst 1 yields only the phenylhydrazone 2a and difficultly the α,β-bis(methylphenylhydrazono)propiopheone (6), 13a reacts very easily to the corresponding osazones 15a- c. It is tried to discuss these different reactivities on the basis of Weygand′s mechanism.
    Notes: 2,3-Dihydroxy-3-phenyl- (1) und 2-Hydroxy-3-phenylpropanal (13a) verhalten sich völlig verschieden gegenüber Hydrazin-Derivaten. Während 1 nur zum Phenylhydrazon 2a und nur schwer zum α,β-Bis(methyiphenythydrazono)propiophenon (6) reagiert, bildet 13a sehr leicht die entsprechenden Osazone 15a - c. Diese unterschiedlichen Reaktivitäten werden auf der Basis der mechanistischen Vorstellungen von Weygand gedeutet.

    Description / Table of Contents: Chromium chalcogenides. IV. Phase equilibria in the system NiS—CrSThe system NiS—CrS has been investigated by thermal reaction of elements or binary sulphides. CrS acts as a reducing agent towards NiS (and other transition metal sulphides), reducing NiS to Ni3S2 or metallic Ni. Following compounds have been found in Ni1-aCraS samples after heating at 950°C and quenching to room temperature: a = 0-0.33: Ni1-(x+y)CrxIICr2y/3IIIS (NiAs-Typ) + Ni3S2, a = 0.33-0.40: Ni1-x CrxIICr2IIIS4 (Cr3S4-type) + Ni3S2, a = 0.40-0.64: Ni1-xCrxIICr2IIIS4 + Ni3S2 + Ni, a = 0.64-0.75: Ni1-x CrxIICr2IIIS4 + Ni, a = 0.75-0.81: Cr3+xS4 + Ni, a = 0.85-1.0: Cr1-xS (NiAs-type) + Ni. In the Mixed-crystal system NiCr2S4-Cr3S4, the formation of phases with the composition Ni0.5Cr2.5S4 is preferred.
    Notes: Das quasibinäre System NiS—CrS wurde bei 950°C durch Umsetzung der Elemente bzw. Der binären sulfide untersucht. Es zeigte sich, Daß Chrom(II)-sulfid gegenüber Nickelsulfid (und anderen Übergangsmetallsulfiden) als Reduktionsmittel fungiert und NiS zu Ni3S2 bzw. Ni-Metall reduziert. Neben Nickelmetall wurden folgende Sulfide in den bei 950°C getemperten und dann abgeschreckten Ni1-aCraS-Proben erhalten: a = 0-0,33; Ni1-(x+y) CrxIICr2y/3IIIS (NiAs-Typ) + Ni3S2, a = 0,33-0,40: Ni1-x CrxIICr2IIIS4 (Cr3S4-Typ)+ Ni3S2, a = 0,40-0,64: Ni1-x CrxIICr2IIIS4 + Ni3S2 + Ni, a = 0,64-0,75: Ni1-x CrxIICr2IIIS4 + Ni, a = 0,75-0,81: Cr3+xS4 + Ni, a = 0,85-1: Cr1-xS (NiAs-Typ) + Ni. In der Mischkristallreihe NiCr2S4-Cr3S4 warden bevorzugt Phasen der Zusammensetzung Ni0,5Cr2,5S4 gebildet.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation of Ni1-xCr2+xS4 Crystals by Means of Chemical Transport ReactionsCr3S4, NiCr2S4, and mixed crystals of these compounds have been grown by chemical transport with anhydrous AlCl3 and CrCl3 as transporting agents. The obtained hexagonal plates have a domain structure with crystallites arranged to each other in angles of 60°, 120°, 180°, 240°, 300° in the 001 plane. The unit cell dimensions of the solid solution Cr3S4—NiCr2S4 do not obey VEGARD's law.
    Notes: Cr3S4, NiCr2S4 und Ni1-xCr2+xS4-Mischkristalle konnten durch chemischen Transport mit wasserfreiem AlCl3 und CrCl3 als Transportmittel in Form sechseckiger Plättchen (7 · 7 · 0,3 mm) dargestellt werden. Die erhaltenen „Kristalle“ besitzen eine Mosaikstruktur, bei der die einzelnen Kristallite zueinander in Winkeln von 60°, 120°, 180°, 240° und 300° in der 001-Ebene angeordnet sind. Die Kristalldaten der Mischkristallreihe Cr3S4—NiCr2S4 (lückenlose Mischbarkeit) erfüllen nicht die Vegardsche Regel.
