Rearrangements of Vinylogous Acyl Chlorides, XIX: Investigations on the Steric Course of 1,5-Pentadiene-Oxygen Transfer and the Equilibrium of the Stereoisomeric Rearrangement ProductsThe pentadienone 1 rearranges at 80°C via the pyran intermediates A and B with predominant formation of the Z,Z-acyl chloride 2. Increasing temperature accelerates the establishment of an equilibrium with the Z,E-acyl chloride 3, which is interpreted on the basis of different ring opening directions of the common pyran intermediate B. The state of the equilibrium with 60% 2 and 40% 3 is not dependent on temperature. In order to confirm the configuration of 2 a sterically controlled synthesis of the corresponding acid 4a starting from 6 via the intermediates 7-11 is performed. The influence of the „cis-effect“ of chlorine atoms involving preferred Z-isomers is evident in the rearrangement 1 → 2 as well as in the addition 11 → 4a.
Notes:
