    Notes: Summary The following fertilizer treatments were applied to a 20-year-old aspen-birch-sprucefir stand in southeastern Maine: N at 448 kg/ha, P at 112 kg/ha, N and P applied as above in addition to 1751 kg/ha Ca and 27 kg/ha Mg. Five years after treatment, foliar concentrations of N, P and Ca for understory blasam fir exhibited significant increases in response to fertilization with those nutrients. Mean five-year height growth, adjusted for pretreatment differences, increased 36 percent in response to fertilization with N alone and in combination with P and lime.

    Notes: Abstract High-quality crystals of stoichiometric spinel grown from solution in lead fluoride were subjected to neutron activation analysis to determine rare-earth doping levels. The results have shown that the small rare-earth ion, Er3+, can be incorporated to a small extent, but the larger Nd3+ ion is rejected. Contamination of the crystals with iridium was disclosed. This impurity is derived from iridium in the platinum crucibles used to contain the melts at high temperatures. Iridium contamination may well occur in other crystals grown by the fluxed melt technique. No measurable platinum contamination was found.

    Notes: Abstract The growth of nickel platelets and whiskers by thermal and chemical decomposition of Nil2 and NiBr2 has been investigated. The various factors affecting the transport of nickel were examined. For best growth of platelets the amount of nickel transported must be kept low. Hence reactions with low ¦Δ H°¦ are necessary and growth must proceed at the lowest temperature possible.

    Description / Table of Contents: Sommaire L’article décrit un gilet fait de papier de cellulose lamifié offrant de nombreuses possibilitiés de connections aux électrodes et capteurs utilisés pendant la surveillance électronique d’un patient. Le gilet supprime la tension qu’exerce le câble multi-conducteur reliant les électrodes à l’unité de surveillance. De plus, il dissimule les électrodes et les protège des vomissements.
    Abstract: Zusammenfassung Die Anwendung eines wechselbaren Papiergürtels für Mehrwegsverbindung mit Elektroden und Transducern während der Überwachung von Patienten wird beschrieben. Durch den Hüftgürtel entfällt die Belastung des Mehrwegskabels der Überwachungseinheit von den einzelnen Elektroden. Die Elektroden sind dadurch versteckt und gegen Vomitus geschützt.
    Notes: Abstract The use of a disposable paper laminate waistcoat is described to provide a multi-way connection to electrodes and transducers during monitoring from a patient. The waistcoat removes the strain of the multi-way cable of the monitor unit from the individual electrodes. It also conceals the electrodes and protects them from vomit.
